Our family reserved 2 rooms at the Waikiki' Alohilani Resort for 14 days after abruptly leaving a VRBO that was not suitable. The Alohilani is perfect. It is situated just steps away from Waikiki Beach and nestled among coffee shops, retail, and ice cream places. The hotel staff is polite and helpful. The property is beautiful. We took advantage of the daily breakfast buffet for the extra cost and we loved it. The meal choices were different everyday. I will always choose the Alohilani. If you’re a mom looking for a suitable place for your family to stay while in Hawaii, this is it.

Resort was wonderful, staff was very helpful and friendly. The only complaint would be that there was no vent/fan in the bathroom. Making it very difficult to use the mirror after showering and this also caused some mold to be in the bathroom. You could dee they cleaned it frequently but venting the bathroom would fix the majority of the problem. The breakfast buffet was a favorite amongst our family, especially the large fishtank that you could see in the dinning area. Beautiful location with an amazing view from the saltwater infinity pool. Beach was right across the street and anything you might want or need was within walking distance.

I checked in early around 11 am to get paperwork started. By 3:00 pm of check in my room was still not available. We were already exhausted and my kids were falling asleep in the lobby sofa. Other than that no other issues.

The hotel was perfect for our little family of four, rooms were spacious and comfortable.
The only downside was waiting in line at the pool bar and getting overlooked for a drink purchase when young ladies, early twenties in skimpy bikinis approached the bar!

Alohilani is a great way to experience Waikiki! It is right on the beach, pool is small but remarkable even if you don't want to head to the beach you have great view due to the infinity pool. Reef safe sunscreen and after sun cooling lotion available at pool. Pool towels and beach towels available too.
I was concerned when booking about the reviews regarding the bathroom size which was true. The bathroom is very small with no fan, the humidity peaks and drips from the ceiling, but not a deal breaker. The hotel is clean and service was good.
My biggest concern was the elevators - while we were there the elevator had issues. Which might be fixed now but we were on the 27th floor at times walked down, of course not gonna try to climbed 27 floors.
We had a great view of Diamond head and the ocean just as described in the room details. I wouldn't recommend this if you have small children or unruly adults, the lani is small but beautiful however the railing is aluminum and didn't seem very sturdy.
Be aware of extra fees I saw the warnings in other reviews so make sure you plan for an additional $65 per day. $50 resort fee plus carbon neutral fee, tree fee, taxes, to name a few.

Upon check our room wasn’t ready. I said by 3 PM. It was ready an hour later. We were put next to a room with a baby in it. It took Front Desk three hours to change our room. There is no room service. Our room smelled like pot! They forgot about additional housekeeping pillows that we ordered twice. No service at the pool or pool restaurant. we did have an excellent experience with the Front Desk staff. The ladies were very accommodating and friendly. It was also a wonderful location to Waikiki Beach.

This is our second booking with Alohilani in 2 years. However, this time we didn't get to stay there at all. Upon our arrival, the front desk lady mistakenly thought I'm a VIP guest with a high-end American Express credit card holder. She explained the rooms, all complimentary breakfast in their restaurant, I soon figure this might be a mistake, because i didn't book my trip with my AE card but thru Hotel.com. After i mentioned that to her, then she realized that she read the wrong guest line, and told me their system is down and had to relocate us to their sister hotel. I was so confuse that she was checking my family in at one point, but all sudden kick us out to another facility right after. They said it might only for one night, but when i call back the next day, the manager said their system still down, even if check us in manually, they couldn't find our booking.
Hotel.com gave me a full refund, the online chat was easy and fast, the agent was helpful. But, this hotel, i don't think i will go back again. Our trip still fine, but we lost the beach front hotel and had to walk a long way back to the strip.
