Opal Sands Resort

Very quick getaway for my husband’s birthday! Perfect ambiance for an overnight stay for grown-ups! The decor is updated, customer service was A+ which is often a challenge. We’ve stayed here with our teen kids as well and they loved all the activities at Clearwater. Would love more room by the pool but otherwise no complaints. We live near Tampa and will be back!

We spent five days at the resort. We had an absolutely amazing time. The staff was so attentive and helpful. Our room was kept clean, there were movie events for kids with snacks and refreshments. We are already planning another trip in 2024 to the same spot!

I would have given the Opal Sands all five stars. The reason for the four was simply because the pool was way too cold. They are right on the beach and have no control over the weather, however they do on the pool temperature. Being that it was extremely windy causing rip tides, meant that swimming in the gulf wasn't an option for children. But neither was the pool because it was too cold. Not only my children, but other families as well, were forced to take their children to the spa, interrupting couples that were trying to have an intimate weekend.

Opal Sands Resort was such an incredible location to stay for my family . Incredible sunset views , beautiful pool and Sauna with great Clearwater beach views from our room . I was impressed by the cleanliness , customer service and overall great vibe of the surroundings. The location is close to everything. This family will be returning soon . Thank you !

I arrived at the hotel at 10AM and my room was ready I didn't have to wait for the mandatory 3PM which was great since I have been up since 4AM to catch my flight. I basically ate breakfast at the restaurant daily and it was great, the chef was very good. I did have lunch there twice including 1 dinner, I could have ate all my meals there without any problems the service was very good no problems. I did not have any bad experience with any of their amenities and the services and staff was exceptional and excellent, it was a great relaxing vacation for my family.

Clearwater is absolutely beautiful. The Opal Sands Resort was amazing. The staff, accommodations, room, food and the view was breathtaking. The location is perfect. If you’re not planning to leave the area you don’t need a car everything in walking distance from the resort or jump on the free trolley. The only downside to the resort for us…kids everywhere.

My family of 4 really enjoyed our stay at Opal Sands. We had breakfast and lunch at the resort and the food was always delicious. My 8yo loved the fried grouper sandwich. The pizzas were amazing, too. They have a small coffee cart in the lobby each morning but wish they had it open for a late afternoon pick me up. Loved that all of the guest rooms are oceanfront. The view was beautiful and enjoyed the balcony. Room was big enough, beds were comfortable. There was a stress crack in the ceiling of our room that went all the way across to the exterior wall. Not a huge deal. Room was fairly clean. Pulls on dresser drawers looked like they hadn’t been touched in a while. Housekeeping did a great job getting our room cleaned early in the day. The pool area was fantastic! Water temp was perfect. Pool staff was very friendly. Appreciated the fact that the hotel does not allow guests to reserve chairs. There’s really not a bad seat on the pool deck. We were always able to get chairs no matter what time of day. Hot tub was great too, very large and it sat away from the pool which was nice to have that separation if you wanted to relax. One thing that I was a bit surprised to see was a dog urinating on the pool deck. While the beach access is super convenient, it is a public beach. There is a vendor you can use to rent cabanas and chairs for the day which was nice but they take them down at 5pm. The beach was very, very crowded. Would have preferred a private beach.

Me, my husband and 19month old baby got sick (food poisoning) from the food we ate the first day we arrived June 23, 2023. It was at the SANDBAR. We ordered burger with mushroom, calamari, cheese melt, shrimps (almost raw) from the appetizer menu. My husband had a beer from tap. ALL of us vomited a few hours after we checked in. My husband 4x same night (I had to clean the entire bathroom), my baby (same night), and me the following day. We all had diarrhea, nausea, chills and low grade fever the first day. We spend ~$$$$ at this hotel stay alone for 3nights/4days. We were celebrating our 5th year anniversary (advanced celebration) and it was ruined. We stayed in our room most of our stay. We informed them about the issue and they claimed a few more guests got sick as well. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE. THE hotel didn't care when we asked for a later check out becoz we were all sick and our baby just needed another hour to complete his nap. What a horrible experience. Took us 30mins to get to Walgreens due to heavy traffic just to get Imodium and Tylenol and tons of water / electrolytes. We managed to drive even if we were sick because we had to. We didnt eat much the entire trip. The stress level especially seeing my son throwing up with fever and crying due to pain is UNFORGIVABLE. My husband was on the the bathroom floor 4x puking all over the toilet and couldn't even get up because he was so weak and nauseas . He was feverish on and off. When he pee, he felt pain. HORRIBLE!

This is not the first time me and my family visit Opal resort. we had an amazing time. If you are looking for nice view and good locations - Opal resort is the best place you can find. Friendly and helpful staff, Walking right to the beach with nice pool with the view of the Ocean.
