Lakeside Inn

Great view nice location for visiting Mt Dora. Ac blew cold. Shower didn’t have hot water. Warm at best. Only complaint was there a group of six unsupervised kids in the pool all day Saturday during my stay. It made me leave the pool earlier than I wanted and not enjoy my visit. They were there at 1 pm when I was first there and still there at 630pm when I went back again. Aged 3 to 10 ish. Not sure if they were related to the bartender or were part of some day pass. What appeared to be their parent(s) were rotating adults sitting at bar all day ignoring the kids for the most part or the bartender who also occasionally yelled to the kids. The ten year old did his best to watch the other kids but shouldn’t have had to that. The paying guests shouldn’t have to experience that either. They were bugging other kids and families looking for attention going back and forth from sand to pool and cleaning off in the pool. Covered in sand (the younger ones). At times the young ones who couldn’t swim were jumping in the deep end. No adults inside pool area other than unrelated guests.

This Inn was built in the 1930's, the windows are still from the 1930's and have been painted and caulked shut. the painting work leave much to be desired. Our windows had termites in them, our carpeting was very old and had rolls in it and our tub needed to be refinished. We had no chair and no table in our room as pictured. Our TV would not come on with the remote and had to be turned off and on from the back, our air conditioner would stick and not work at times, and we awoke at one point in the night and it was 80 degrees took us several minutes of hitting the remote to get it to come back on and adjust. The grounds have beautiful trees, and it is picturesque, overlooking the lake. The beds however are not well kept and many have weeds, we went to sit in the pavilion by the lake but the benches were so dirty that we did not. There was however quite a bit of lounge seating by the pool. We had a meal there and it was very good, we found the staff to be very polite, very welcoming and accommodating. The location is excellent, no car needed to go to the downtown and shop, enjoy the parks and history. The area had quite a nice selection of various restaurants that would fit a wide variety of tastes and wallets, all within walking distance. It is very family oriented and found individuals of all ages. There are no elevators and quite a few stairs to navigate. The rooms need to be updated, the accent paint colors do not go with anything else and stand out like a sore thumb.

We came here to spend our 20yr anniversary and was even more beautiful in person. Beautiful place to relax, explore and reconnect with your partner. We plan to spend every anniversary here from now on and they've got cottages that would be great for a subtle family reunion

Really enjoyed the property and the rooms. The history is super cool about the place, and love the walkable distance to the town. Only comment is that the staff did not seem like they wanted to really talk while checking in/checking out - only one word was said and no smiles or friendly greeting. I am not sure if it was because maybe we were the younger crowd? late 20's/early 30's as we noticed the property is definitely enjoyed by more 50 in age but still saw a few younger families.

We loved our stay at Lakeside! Its definitely an older hotel in need of some updates, but it's charming and renovatuons would mean a higher nightly rate. It was beautiful, family friendly, quiet and right downtown - no driving necessary once you arrive.

Very small bathroom. Terrible shower and small toilet, like child size and non functional bathroom.

Front desk staff wasn't very friendly. Not rude, but just OK. The carpet in our room had stains and there was trash and dust under the furniture and beds. There was many tree leaves in the pool, so they need to clean it more often. The ice machine in my building wasn't working. One cleaning lady told me that they just fixed, but was working. Location is great. Just be aware there are a lot of alligators on that lake, we saw 3 on the beach, so be mindful of kids. Don't let them close to the beach. The hotel is beautiful and overall the landscaping looks beautifiul. The food in the restaurants is expensive but you have many options just walking out.

Beautiful Hotel, friendly staff. Nice place to relax with your family and friends.
