Fairfield Inn & Suites Fort Lauderdale Pembroke Pines

My family and I stayed here for 3 nights. The moment we parked and got out, we were greeted with the most repulsive smell. I walked in to check in, and when I asked about the smell, the receptionist said it had to do with the sewer plant across the street. We made it upstairs to our room and the moment I walked in, I noticed an orange substance on the door frame of the bathroom. I grabbed a wipe and it instantly came off so it made me question how throughly the room was cleaned. I went out to buy Clorox Wipes, and wiped everything. The wipes were dirty from cleaning the toilet, the bathroom counter, the nightstands… so I’m not sure what or how they cleaned. Unfortunately, we couldn’t enjoy the pool because of the God Awful smell outside. The only Pro I really have of our stay is my interactions with the guest, who all were very friendly, and Juan from the breakfast. The food was decent and Juan went above and beyond, making sure everyone had what they needed and were greeted with a smile. I looked forward to seeing him in the morning. Such a great energy to be around. I asked at check-out if our rate could be discounted at all, given the outrageous smells that traveled into the hotel, and the receptionist was kind, but said there was nothing they could do because the smell comes from the sewer. I expressed that we couldn’t use the pool or anything because of the smell and she just agreed and said sorry. If I would have known about the smell, I wouldn’t have booked there.

The property was a convenient location to family. We had two pre-paid consecutive reservations. At check-in we were told no problem, we won’t have to change rooms. What we weren’t told was that we would have to come downstairs by 11a to check-out and check in again. After a really late night we got knock knock knock on the door with Do Not Disturb by housekeeping to see when we were checking out. And the phone was ringing. Front deck stated we needed to come downstairs. We asked if we could come by later as we were sleeping and not dressed. We were rudely told we had to “come now”. The bed was so uncomfortable my husband slept on the floor most nights. Breakfast was to be available till 10a but unless you were there by 9a nothing left. Had to wail 20 minutes for coffee. No table or chairs to sit in room. No hanging space in closet.
