Comfort Inn & Suites Rifle

Dank/mildewy smell mixed with the smell of burning garbage somewhere in the area that infiltrated the entire hotel. Pool was nice enough except for the group of grown men having a little pizza beer party right where the kids were hoping to swim and splash and play—not sure if they were guests or friends/relatives of an employee. Room was big and fairly clean, except for weird smell.

This is where we stay when we come to Rifle. The staff is friendly and helpful. And our room is always satisfactory. We came to babysit grandchildren while our daughter was giving birth, and the staff made sure we had everything we needed.

In short, hotel refused to refund our room after a terrible experience at the hotel and later interactions with the manager. Hotel is dated with deferred maintenance and tattered furniture. We checked in late in the evening and a guest was having a medical emergency. We were put in a room only a few doors away from the incident. The EMTs left without anyone in the ambulance so we assumed the issue has resolved itself and got our children ready for bed. However, there was still a heavy law enforcement presence and we overheard them state the guest had died. The elevator was broken and our room was near the stairs. There was a lot of foot traffic and noise. We decided it wouldn’t be a restful night and didn’t want to scare our children so we left for a different hotel. Management refused to partially refund our stay on the ground we “left on our own free will” and used the shower. The manager was extremely rude and could not understand why we wouldn’t want to stay with our kids near a room with a dead body, law enforcement, coroner, ect. It was a very upsetting experience overall. Even without the incident, it didn’t take long to see that the hotel had been neglected. The stairwells and halls were dirty and our rooms furniture was tattered.

Had to stay in a room right next to the continental breakfast area. Really loud in the morning. Pool was under maintenance during our stay so kids couldn’t swim

The room my family stayed in was a good size except for I couldn't adjust the AC so it stayed on high all the time and the light in the bathroom flickered and the door was very hard to open but other than that my family had a wonderful stay

There were full handprints on our headboard.. all the surfaces in the room were grimy. The pool was closed for maintenance although I was told it would be open, super disappointing for having kids with us. Outdoor space was overgrown and all tore up, the kids park looked terrible. Staff wasn't friendly at all. Doors to outside were propped open which was concerning for safety, there were a lot of stragglers walking around with cigarrettes in and out of the hotel. Not impressed. Wish I could get a refund.

The hotel was dark inside and out. The carpet was dark, the decor was dark, which is okay for sleeping, but felt a little depressing. The room was very clean. The breakfast bar was okay, well attended. There is no view however. From our room we could see somebody's backyard horse coral. The front rooms looked out onto the parking lot. The "suite" was two queen beds, and a pull out couch. The pullout couch only slept one person. If you have a large family with older kids you may want to consider getting two rooms. There was a microwave, and a fridge, but the only sink is inside the bathroom, it would've been nice to have a sink outside the bathroom as well.
