Great location, comfortable bed, small, old room, decent shower, bar closing at 10 is painful, people generally nice and helpful, drink coupons are nice place could really use a facelift, not for families imo.

Treated like family, the trip was a great experience from the front desk greeting us by first names every time we came and left to the valet remembering our names and car to the waiter welcoming us back for another visit. This was a trip to remember.

Absolutely loved staying at this historical gem! The atmosphere and architecture were top notch. The staff was friendly. Addie and Victor were most welcoming and gave the hotel a small family feel. Yes you could hear the floors creaking but that honestly went with the old world vibe. The only complaint I have is parking. It is $59 a night to valet but this is not mentioned anywhere.

Stayed for a family birthday weekend. Rooms are recently refurbished and updated. Our stay was nice, Victor was especially friendly and helpful. Only criticism…We chose to self park and the curbside attendants could have been more courteous as we dealt with our check in.

The spacious suites are great for families, and an amazing find to have a hotel room 600 sq ft! The on site restaurant is excellent and the customer service at the hotel is wonderful. It is quite safe and easily walkable to anything you'd want (restaurants, coffee shops, shopping, laundry, public transportation, etc.) right in the heart of the Gaslamp district. Will definitely be back!

We stayed for 7 days while on a family vacation. The decor of the rooms was a bit dated and the bathroom has limited counter space. However, the staff was friendly, the balcony is a great feature, and the area is terrific. We appreciated the coupon for the Salt & Whiskey, good food and they even had live entertainment. Area is fantastic and just a few blocks from greenline train.

The Valet upon arrival didn't bring my luggage up or help unload my vehicle, just watched as I unpacked everything, went inside and them found my own cart in the lobby to pile my things onto. Was a nice kid for real but considering the style and class the Hotel is going for it was odd. This strange lapse in service happened in front of reception too and they didn't seem to notice. Hotel looks really nice and provides the look they are going for without being too cliche. Beautiful indoor courtyard has trees that aren't dealing with the isolation lack of sunlight well they are so gaunt and drawn...felt sorry for em. Also, little elevator display chambers are likely haunted (just kidding).

Everything about this hotel is unique. Victorian style in the heart of downtown San Diego. Couple of blocks from seaport village and main street. Staff is very helpful. Room was specious by all means. Feels like two sperate rooms. Perfect for families. Parking, however, was a challenge and very expensive.

Best things: Room was good sized, fridge, bar sink, non-pod coffee maker (we prefer drip coffee), great atrium on main floor, easy walking to bay front, Gaslamp district, light rail. Not so great: sofa bed not comfortable, loose arm and leg on chair and coffee table, partially used strip of condoms hanging from under bed (we were all adults, but I can imagine parents of young children having a problem). Especially annoying: remodeling of rooms on 4th floor started about 9 something with no warning--when I mentioned this to front desk, staff looked me in eye and said "my understanding is that only from 11:00 to 2:00". This was at 10:04 am No "I'm sorry" or "we will follow up".
