The Volare, Ascend Hotel Collection

Best stay my family and I have had in a while. Pool area needs some upgrade. But everything else was amazing!!

We always stay at the Vol are because it is clean, friendly, close to family.

Overall this is a beautiful place. The AC was not great and every time it came on it sounded like someone was trying to break in. Sound also carries so when a family with kids showed up at ten above us, it was loud. And when they woke up at six, it was loud. But great value for the price otherwise.

Whats not to like? This hotel is perfect for everything! I especially like it because i have family that live in town and when theres family get-togethers i alwsys stay here.so convenient!

Really nice hotel in a safe area. Were in town for family vacation and had a great stay. Very quiet nice place. Large room was good for spreading out after long days on family excursions. Wish we took advantage of the nice place more but were out all day. Was worried about noise being right by the freeway but no problem at all

Pros: great location to walk to and from hotel to shops, food, and entertainment. Lots to do near hotel. It is child and pet friendly. Budget friendly. It was also clean and the room was ready about an hour before the 4pm check in time. Free parking. Coms: walls are too thin. We could hear our next door guests flushing the toilet and playing music while showering. Parking is limited and first come first serve. Also, parking spaces are tight, so SUVs and trucks beware. They have only one elevator. You have to remove the bathroom sink’s drain pop up or the sink won’t drain due to “poor design” from what the front desk worker told us. It was not something they fixed. The toilet handle broke off too, so toilet wasn’t flushing. Not something they fixed by the time we checked out. Lastly, we called the front desk a few times as things occurred and we were never able to reach them, so we had to show up in person to report the toilet handle issue or the sink not draining issue. When we showed up to talk to the front desk worker, he was sitting on the side just on his phone.

The staff at the front desk was nice. There is onsite parking which is a plus for downtown SC. While clean in appearance, the full-length mirror in my room had a child's handprints all over it and the light switches for the bed lights also had prints all over them. Lack of cleanliness is a big deal to me. The desk chair is tattered/missing upholstery, which surprised me since my read of prior reviews led me to believe the hotel had been fully renovated.

Great customer service! Everything was walking distance. I will definitely recommend The Volare to friends and family.

The room was not fresh smelling the safe was all banged up couldn’t use it very disappointed when I complained they said they would look into it other family had the same complaints 😔

The pictures definitely made the place more inviting than it was. It is very outdated hotel and unkept through the corridors; not worth the price you pay, even if it was the least expensive of what we found. It has a lot of potential and you can see where they have tried to update and/or fix things. A whole remodel of the place is in need including fixing flooring. Just walking the hallways, you can feel where the floors are rotting, felt a little uneasy. Our room barely had any outlets and the bathroom floors were not installed well (a few tiles were loose). Overall the room was decent, good size and was able to sleep 5 comfortably. The pool and spa was enjoyed by the kids, even if small. Hope they can open the restaurant again as that would have been a nice added feature. Parking is free, but there aren't too many spots available. Our ocean view was pretty, even though most of it was blocked by buildings. I think this would be a good place for a one night stay or if you just plan on being in your room for sleeping. There are plenty of shops and restaurants around the area and the trolley will take you even further around. May check it out again in the future to see if anything's changed.
