Loved how all the little shops were right underneath, but on the proximity to most things in Avalon.
Had a couple of issues where the sliding door in my kids room would not lock, no lock/broken. We had germs across from each other, one had balcony, but no tub, the other had a nice soaker tub, but no balcony. And all of our doors were not fully locked unless we really pulled them shut so a little security concern.
The continental breakfast really didn’t have any options for those who are dairy free, so be aware. Nicely cleaned, staff were all very friendly and responsive.

Our family stayed here and loved how convenient it was to go down to the shops and get snacks and breakfast and sweaters, if needed… The only thing that was missing was a hot tub… I did not find where the hot tub was and it was kind of why I booked this room, but it was still a wonderful stay, and the staff was great… We would definitely stay there again

My Daughter her two kids and myself had a great time. The Metropol Hotel was centrally located to everything we wanted to do. The continental breakfast was great, and downstairs amenities were great. We are thinking about next year and staying at the Metropol Hotel if we do.

We've always wanted to stay in Catalina but Hotels were always booked the same day, so we made a point to book it 3 months in advance and truly enjoy the island. Stephanie, Danica - and to an extent Yoli (but not really) - were all super helpful during our check-in, dining options that were kid-friendly, the recommendations for a romantic spot for just me and the wife, and the cool Arcade behind the hotel. The whole stay was worth it, the only small small small issue was that the spa is super small and kinda dirty - and I don't mean dirty water, I mean it had sand at the bottom all three days, it doesn't look like its cleaned daily. I would stay there again.

Hotel Metropole was great. The check in/out process was easy and staff was friendly. We loved having a fireplace in our room since it was chilly out. The rooftop jacuzzi was lovely and had great views. The continental breakfast had great options for the whole family. The kids enjoyed the arcade and the sandwiches at the Cafe Metropole were great. I would stay here again.

Stayed 2 nights for a family getaway. My in-laws' room was much nicer than ours, conveniently located on the same floor as the lobby with continental breakfast, and it had a little balcony plus the bathroom had been redone very recently. Our room was on the 4th floor and it was very warm and stuffy when we arrived. Had to run the small AC unit full blast from afternoon until middle of the night when the room was finally cool enough. Bathroom was ok but kind of dated. Low-flow shower head made it difficult to rinse all soap off, but I understand Catalina is having a drought crisis so not the hotel's fault.

The Hotel Metropole is centrally located within the Metropole Market Plaza, which was wonderful. Everyday there was someone giving chair massages near the lower entrance of the hotel, for a small fee. They served a continental breakfast every morning in the lobby. Although seating space is limited, we met some great guest. There is more seating space outside within the plaza, which is also nice. The rooms are a little small for the size of the desk/table and dresser. We immediately moved the furniture around, so we did not feel so claustrophobic. Our room window faced the shops and jacuzzi, which was great, especially if you have a child. For those who want a large room or a VIP feel, they do offer this. I noticed at the front of the hotel/boardwalk they had a private entrance and elevator with ocean view rooms with balcony. FYI, They were doing some up grades to the hotel while we were there. My only complaints are limited seating in the lobby during continental breakfast and the sofas need to be cleaned and furniture maintain. On a happy note, the staff was absolutely wonderful.

When we arrived we were given a room next to a group of people who were loud, very dirty and just not appropriate for small children to be around. We asked the front desk if it was possible to switch rooms and immediately she switched us to a very nice room. The service was excellent. Hotel is relatively nice for the area. A little noisy in the mornings due to normal everyday operations of the town...heard golf carts and garbage truck early morning.
