Loved the old-fashioned charm. Found the people from the bus, especially unmonitored children, running around the lobby. annoying. It was a relief when the bus left. The folks at the desk were wonderful, and their positiveness really made a difference for us.

The hotel is a bit old and dated, with respect to the furnishings, but to be honest, that is part of it's charm. I absolutely loved it, and the view, especially from the side veranda, simply cannot be beat. The food was wonderful. The staff was very attentive. The clientele is on the older side. For a younger vibe, ie. those with families, the Bright Angel Lodge is better suited.

I loved the history of El Tovar. It was located on the South Rim which made it easy to get up and watch the sunrise. The dining room had wonderful food and service.
My concern is that we paid $350 to sleep in a teeny tiny room with a double bed. That is a hell of a price to pay for 2 retirees living on a fixed income. As a retired teacher I just couldn’t begin to pay for a better room but yet I have spent 38 years of my life working on behalf of America’s children and families.

What a great experience to stay in this historic hotel! They staff brought a hideaway bed in for our family and made sure it would fit in the room. We were able to get dinner in their dining room without a reservation which was so great after a long day of driving. It was clean, beautiful, and the staff was friendly. If you get the chance to stay here, take it!

We had a great time as a family. The Grand Canyon was breathtaking and the snowy weather even added to its beauty. We had dinner at El Tovar's restaurant (12 of us) and the service was amazing including the food. I'd definitely recommend this place.

Great location estimate 30 feet from the rim, we stayed in a newly renovated room that had a view of the canyon, entire grounds inside and out well maintained. Shuttle service to all points of the south rim (all drivers very friendly and knowledgeable) All staff members treat you like family, great on-site gift shops. Excellent value and service at the restaurant. If available cinnamon bun pancakes.

Not worth the cost! TV was broken and the room had a stench to it. Contacted the front desk and no one showed up to fix the problems. Spoke with the manager the next day and she didnt do anything about it. The only nice thing was being very close to the canyon, but there isn't anything for kids to do after nightfall.

Staff was friendly and helpful - went above and beyond expectations to make our stay special. We brought our family to El Tovar to celebrate my husband’s 70th birthday. Each member of the staff we had contact with gave us attention and made the day even more special. We had a memorable family event and would recommend the experience of El Tovar to anyone.
