Hilton Edinburgh Carlton

We arrived before 3pm check-in and where not allowed to checkin a minute before. Due to this I had to use the baby changing facilities there but what turned out to be an employee was in there on the phone and did not come out for over 10 minutes, despite me trying the door several times. When I finally got in she had left a terrible mess in the toilet and it smelled so bad I had to change my baby with the door open. We were given a room on level 3 with no cot which I had asked for and never ever got in our 2 night stay. The room was down a set of stairs, having gone up in the lift but we had a large pram so it was no use. We moved room after that. We had a pram and a suitcase but we were offered to help to our room. I did hear the receptionist give the 2 men at the desk into trouble for not helping but still no help. Breakfast was nice, staff there friendly. The scrabbled eggs had gone a grey/green but the server was helpful and changed them and made a smaller batch just for the baby. Room ok but very outdated, the first room didn’t even have a fridge. It was ok and central enough, but not worth a fraction of the £350 we paid. If I knew now what I was going to I’d have booked a Premier Inn. I suspect no difference. They should spend less on a fancy reception area and more on the rooms and service to their guests.

Disgusting cleanliness and very unhelpful staff. Worse places to stay but If you have young children or allergies avoid. Sleeping area of room was ok but the bathrooms were disgusting. Covered in mould and damp with cracked or broken fixtures or fittings. Took photos and showed the staff. Shown another room and was exactly the same. Ingrained dirt and mould in the doors and bath with visible mould everywhere. Spoke to reception after arrival to complain (5pm). I have two children (4 months breathing issues and 5 years old). Was told by the desk staff that they would refund money paid and I should go and find another hotel. At 5pm they wanted me to search Edinburgh for an alternative hotel with two small children???? Told they would speak to me the very next day of our stay. Nothing happened. Told they had cleaned our room. Mould and grime was still there. Dreadful hotel customer service and their cleaning staff are a disgrace. My baby is still feeling effects of mould. AVOID! Cleaner hotels in area for the money you pay. Just plain nasty!

Property in an excellent location. It is very easy to get anywhere walking! Amenities on offer is great. Very quiet! Sadly they were unable to accommodate a family member’s food allergy. The only negative was mould in the shower.

The hotel room was very spacious. Beds were comfortable. Location was excellent. We walked everywhere. I would stay here again with my family.

We had a room with two double beds and a walk in shower. Room was a great size but could do with minor improvement with regards cleanliness. Despite this the room was an excellent size for families and inwould visit again. The location of the hotel is fantastic. 10 minute walk from the train station and literally on the Royal Mile meaning it was close to restaurants, pubs and entertainment. Only real complaint is the price of the breakfast which was astronomical.

Had a lovely stay with my family and considering I don't like a bed to firm I had a great nights sleep.Room comfortable and clean as they should be for the price. Great location and view from room. Lovely breakfast with a great choice too.
