Hotel is ideally located near major attractions, easy to walk to wherever you want to go, safe, clean and great staff. It is very noisy during the school year, the university kids were loud until about 5 am and I had a hard time sleeping through the noise.

Great location next to the Royal Mile. Hunter Square does have some late night action so be mindful of that, but the hotel requires a key card to enter so there wasn't a safety concern at the hotel. The rooms are a little tight, but that can be expected in Europe. One thing to keep in mind is that the family room (sleeps 3) has just a very tiny pull out that's not even twin size so only plan on two adults and a small child in a room of that size.

The description on this site is not accurate. There is no restaurant on premise, there is no street access to the hotel (car & bag drop-off), and the rooms are pretty much dorms. Our bathroom door did not close unless you slam it shut, but when I did, my 9-year old was stuck which caused another level of frustration. On other sites it is labeled as an economy hotel, but not on Hotels.com. For $300+/night, I would expect so much more. I cancelled my stay early and was not given any sort of discount even with the problems that we had. Neither hotels.com or Ibis would accommodate or help, even when I was told it was ok to checkout by the rep at hotels.com. My family was then left without a place to stay and had to eat the cost of the room. This was a good learning opportunity and sadly cost me over $600.

Excellent location for all of the main sights. Room was basic, but comfortable, well maintained and clean. We had a family room at the front of the hotel which was big enough for the three of us, but not too much storage provided - not even hooks to hang coats so be warned! Room was a little noisy late evening/early morning due to the room being located over a bar and opposite another. Ear plugs are offered, but we didn’t need to use.

Great stay. GREAT LOCATION. Basis hotel no frills but very clean and lovely staff. We as a couple got a family room plenty big for us but would have being difficult for a family space wise. No safe provided. Breakfast good but the bacon and sausage needed more cooking. Continental end off the breakfast very good and tasty
