Point A Hotel Edinburgh Haymarket

Great personnel - Jamie, Lucia, and ‘Wee Michael” made us feel like family! Loved them! Took great care of us!!!

The room was very basic, website states there is toiletries provided but this was just the handwash which said "handwash, shampoo, bodywash" on the bottle!!! (Misleading if you are travelling light & haven't brought your own). There was no phone in the room so if you want to contact reception for anything then you have to physically go down to the reception desk which is just not feasible if you are in your pyjamas and a islamic woman who covers her head staying on her own with her child, come on in this day & age with so much technology, the only way to contact reception is to go speak to them in person??? There was no kettle or any other small fridge in the room so for a hotel that doesn't provide breakfast, they should really have something to quench your thirst at least without having to physically go down to reception again which is very inconvenient for a hotel that boasts convenience!!!! Hotel that charges £275 a night which is way over the odds should offer a bit more. I understand it's a 3 star and very basic and small, (no wardrobe to put your clothes away, only 4 hangers provided, good thing we were travelling light and only for one night) but this was definitely NOT worth the price. On the positive side, the staff were very nice and helpful which made the stay from becoming a complete rip off

Firstly, this hotel is probably better suited for a business traveller than for someone vacationing with family or friends. Tiny and windowless, the room I stayed in felt very claustrophobic. To be honest, without the air conditioner, I’m not certain I would have been able to sleep. Each guest was given only one pillow and one towel. There was no mini-fridge or kettle; however, the powers that be were generous enough to provide a hair dryer, an item that I suspect most travellers can actually bring with them from home??? Finally, the one and only USB and electric wall socket in the room was defective making it a challenge to recharge my mobile phone.

Since we are coming from Japan, it is very similar to Toyoko Inn, APA hotels chain. The rooms are tiny but compared to Japan there are no amenities or rooms essentials at all (except hair dryer, towels and a set of plastic cups). It would be nice to have at least a box of tissues in the room… location is okish, a bit of the walk from the touristy spots, but walkable if you are without small kids and there are a couple of busses going as well (not right next to the hotel though). On the positive side, the stuff was super friendly and the lounge on the ground floor is nice and have nice vibes. We didn’t have breakfast this time since we opted for a Scottish breakfast instead just down the street :)

The staff were very courteous and helpful. The hotel location was perfect as there are many cafes and excellent restaurants nearby. I would recommend this hotel to my family and friends.
