Holiday Inn Express Wakefield, an IHG Hotel

We have previously stayed at the Wakefield Holiday Inn Express, since we visit our family locally. It has proven to form our base of stay, since we regard the hotel rooms to be extremely clean and comfortable (and quiet) and the breakfasts to be very comprehensive and wholesome. The overall welcome from the receptionist in checking in to that of checking out is exemplary. A great venue to stay !!

Stayed here many times before when visiting friends & family in Wakefield. Great location bang in city centre. Staff always friendly & help. Yes it’s a bit worn & tired but it’s clean & does the job for a short stay trip.

Stay was ok but not happy we had to keep asking for heating controls in our room to be put back in our control as they are now controlled in office,breakfast getting worse,cereals left open,strawberry jam now in squeeze containers like puree,ok if you have a baby.fruit not good,less to choose from each time we go,

The property was perfect for what we needed. My only suggestion is to have a laundrette on site so we would wash the clothes. I'm positive more travellers, especially with children would appreciate having one where they dont have to travel to.

Room was very cold and noisy being the large family room on the corner. Heating ineffective and noisy.

From the initial welcoming greeting from the reception desk during our check-in to our wonderful breakfast on the following morning, we confirm that we enjoyed a great stay at the hotel. The accommodation was spotlessly clean and comfortable and the rooms were quiet during the night. We would have no hesitation in returning to the venue during our next visit to our family

This was a disaster. I get there and there was not a loading zone for arriving guests. Cars and work trucks were haphazardly parked everywhere. I pulled in to check in, and was immediately made aware that I wasn’t parked where I should be. No kidding, Sherlock. You don’t have a place for people checking in to temporarily park. There were a lot of men hanging out in the area, they appeared to be workmen staying at the property, but it wasn’t comfortable for a solo female traveler. After the parking fiasco, they finally began to check me in, and that was not an easy process. The lobby was shabby. The 2 ladies checking me were competent but not kind. I was given a key to a room, opened the door, took one look at the setup and the cleanliness, I closed the door and told them I could not sleep there. They didn’t have another room for me, so I sat in the grungy lobby and booked another hotel down the road. I’ve stayed in thousands of lodging rooms and this is only the second time I’ve left without staying.
