Overview

The Bermondsey Square Hotel offers a good base for families visiting London. While some families have noted that the rooms could benefit from renovations, many appreciate the spacious family rooms available. Families praise the hotel's convenient location, with easy access to the tube station and a relaxed neighbourhood feel. A complimentary breakfast is included, adding value for families. However, reviews suggest that the quality and variety of the breakfast could be improved. The sofa beds are a point of contention, with some finding them uncomfortable.

Felt unsafe in the area with small children. Not close to much. Would not recommend this hotel for family. Backpackers maybe ok

We stayed here as a family of 4, the hotel was approx 10 mins walk to tube station. Location and area was good. Really nice chilled out vibe in area. The hotel room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was included which was very nice

The positives, the breakfast was pretty good and the staff on reception were very nice. The not so positives. We had booked a family room, it was in desperate need of renovation, the shower drain was too high so didn’t drain so the whole bathroom filled with water, the cleanliness is pretty grim, we found someone’s toe nail in the middle of the bedroom floor. My kids were on the sofa bed, this was not made up when we got there so when we went out we asked them to make it up, when we arrived back to the hotel at 10pm the bed was only just being made up so we were told we had to sit in reception, the kids were shattered. the mattress was so thin you could feel every spring this meant they tossed and turned all night but every move on the bed meant the metal frame squeaked incredibly loudly. Not one of us slept that night.

Overall an above average (for London) Hotel. Fairly large family rooms. The beds are fine and the rooms are nice. The hotel is right next to a bus stop that can take you to 2 different tube stations, which is OK, but not optimal. The breakfast has some highlights such as fresh fruit bowl of very good quality and the Pain au Chocolate! But there are no scrambled eggs and there is absolutely no variation, so we got bored with the breakfast from the 3rd day. Due to a faulty bedsofa we got to try 2 different rooms, the latter was a handicap room. The regular family bathroom only had a large overhead showerhead that needed cleaning and neither had any hooks for the towels. The second bathroom got water almost all over when you showered. So for London 4 out of 5, had it been Stockholm: 3 out of 5.

Stayed 1 night whilst visiting friend's. On arrival the staff were friendly and helpful and stored our luggage. The room was large and bright with a large bed and sofa bed for the kids. The bathroom was large and clean with plenty of toiletries. There was complimentary water in the fridge and a nespresso machine. Breakfast was a lovely complimentary option, not sure if there was any cooked to order option's as no one mentioned anything. Now a couple of issues, lack of storage in the bathroom. There was no where to put your stuff by the sink. The kids complained the sofa bed was terribly uncomfortable and i have to agreed, it was a very thin mattress that squeaked every time they moved. I was woken at 530 as the curtains failed to keep the light out so we were all very tired.

One lift out of order the other very sporadic - bed very comfortable but sofa bed like a hammock - room very cramped with the 2 beds - for sleeping only ! disabled shower bathroom not great for a family as water got everywhere after the shower was used so wet towels all around so bathroom could be used by the rest of the family. Breakfast well priced and good choice for continental in London - destination ok. Overall reasonable stay for the price for this area of London - but for this price anywhere else I would expect more.
