Holiday Inn London-Gatwick Airport, an IHG Hotel

Not a good experience. Went to check in and shared I had a reservation but told they’d need to check in rooms as many flights canceled. I booked 6 months ago so there should not be an issue. They didn’t ask the family before me the same question. The room was missing a tv remote, the front desk didn’t answer the phone, trash on the floor, hair dryer broken. Won’t spend my money here again

We stayed for a few hours before flying out of Gatwick. The 24 hour shuttle was great. It cost 4.5 pounds per person each way but they also had a discounted family rate for 2 adults and 2 kids.

It was alright...Carpet smelt terrible and dusty. Our 4 months daughter kept coughing and sneezing. We asked for a bed for our baby 3 times and they kept saying it will be there but nothing happened.

The 1930s called, they want their mattresses back!! Most uncomfortable mattress ive slept on in a UK hotel for years! The amount of money this place must be making, not to invest in something other than a spring mattress that you can feel every lump in is criminal. We were travelling with a toddler (they knew from booking) and there was no cot or bed set up on arrival nor after asking at reception. After asking again they made the sofa bed up - which was comfier than the double. Had to ask for another towel for the toddler too. Some blood staining on the net curtains was also a nice touch. Proximity to the airport is all this place has going for it.

Checking in was a pain as there are long queues of holiday makers, mainly families with lots of suitcases. But this is the nature of a hotel on an airport pickup location. Never experienced this issue before and I stay in hotel for business, 60-80 nights a year. Car parking was really full with abandoned cars I guess from holiday makers using the stay and park. Restaurant service was incredibly slow. People were complaining. I had time to kill in the evening so delays weren’t really an issue but waiting to place even a drink order took around 20/25 mins. However if you eat at the bar area just outside the restaurant and order at the bar the service is prompt and really efficient. Food quality was excellent. Great quality, no complaints. Even though I had opted for a super king bed the duvet was a little small until I asked for room service and it was upgraded to a full size version. Slightly odd and annoying. I would definitely stay here again though.

Some restaurant staff were new and overcharged us but Marta quickly processed our refund. We had to catch the airport shuttle at 5:30 am and the staff provided us a great “to go” breakfast which we greatly appreciated. Hotel did get a little noisy bc of folks arriving and departing for the airport at early and late times, but rowdy, just normal family talking.

Easy taxi rode from Gatwick airport to hotel. Easy check-in at hotel at midnight, very helpful, friendly check-in staff. Our room was a little small for a family of 4 and the sofa bed hadn't been made up and there were no sheets, but staff quickly helped when I called. My reservation stated there would be a fully stocked mini bar but there wasn't even a fridge in the room, just an empty space where it should have been. Overall quiet nights sleep. Sofa bed pretty uncomfortable and unsupportive.

The QR code supplied in the hotel room stated a To Go Cafe that didn't exist at this location, as well as NOT stating that small toiletries were not complimentary until a guest heads down to the lobby and sees a small sign posted with price list. My children could feel the springs of sofabed mattress which made it difficult to sleep. However, the staff was incredibly helpful and friendly yet overwhelmed with all the guest arriving, checking out and asking questions.
