The Angel Hotel

Not usually one to leave a review but was thoroughly disgusted with recent stay at this hotel (August 2022) Booked 3 rooms for family for one night stay. Room 107, 109 and 111. How these rooms can be let out is beyond me! Damp above windows and doors, rust, damp and stains in bathrooms, full of spiders and cobwebs (the hotel reception said this was because it was harvest season!) not in the rooms we told them! Electrical items in room were last PAT tested in 2013. One of our party had to be moved to alternative room (after 2nd time of asking) as they also had damp carpet and the room stank of damp. They were told this was the only other room available so no luck of being moved for the others in the party. When approached reception to inform them of how nasty the stay was and the bad experience there was no mention of refund (full or partial) just that they would pass on my feedback to the management. I have had no contact from the hotel since.

Wendy was great. 2 things stand out - one we asked for an early check-in as we were going to a wedding and need to all get changed - it was not a problem for them and that was super helpful. The 2nd - not a big thing - but still nice was that as my sister and her family went to b/fast, as my family had not wanted to have b/fast we were still allowed to sit with them and have a chat (and a cup of tea). I can imagine some other hotels being completely rigid and saying no! It was absolutely fine for us - a family of 5 spread across 2 rooms (which again helpfully) were next to each other. Hotel was functional and fine for that stay, set in the middle of the countryside. All good.
