We had used this hotel once before many years ago and found it a really good venue to meet up with family. Can't comment on the spa as its of no interest to us, but we did feel that the hotel is looking a bit tired. Also, our bedroom TV was not working and the manager in charge said there was nothing they could do about it until the next week. Great customer service ! Dinner menu was smaller that we had remembered and staff seemed to have an average age of about 16. Not sure how they would have coped had we asked questions about the wine list. I'm guessing that their main focus is where the money is - Spa weekends, hen parties, weddings etc. Not hugely disappointing but probably won't go back.

the property is overall a lovely place, in a nice secluded area. The only issues we found was, the hotel doesn’t have a lift & the spa is only accessible for 4 years old and up. the hotel was informed proir that we were coming with a under 1 year old, and we were told on arrival there wasn’t a lift, and we were put on the top floor of the hotel, with 2 flights of stairs. we had to lift his pram up, the whole time. Not safe and the were stairs were small. I feel if the hotel looked into the reservation more they would of been a little more understanding when it came to putting families with children especially under 1, on the top floor on the hotel, with no lift. if you wanting to spend the day in Cheshire, or the designed outlet it’s a good place to stay. just think before booking.

The restaurant was really disappointing. We had dinner in another hotel the eve, for the same price the food was much better. A lot of ingredients were not served in the food that we paid. For breakfast they say they serve home made honey, but it was golden syrup. The swimming pool does not have private changing rooms, which is not ideal for childrens. The carpet of the room was dirty

All of the staff, bar none, were amazing at this hotel. We unfortunately had to stay last minute due to a loved one passing away and we had to get up from London to Chester. The staff were so friendly and caring and they were all really sensitive to what we were going through. It felt like we were being taken care of by family for a few days. The hotel itself is in beautiful grounds and as a 'period' property, will obviously have a few things that are a challenge, such as the towel rail in the bathroom being permanently on, but the maintenance team managed to sort that out for us. A particular thank you to the lady who served breakfast (apologies, I can't remember her name, but the one with the three daughters :)) and Natalie from the Bar - thank you so much for such heartfelt lovely service. Daniel, Joe and Freddie the dog :)
