DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel and Spa Chester

Amazing hotel, great staff and great room for a family!

Staff were unhelpful. The electric charging obolisc in the room didn't work so we couldn't charge our phones when we were attending a family funeral. I was told that there was no engineer so there was nothing they could do .abruptly. When I voiced my frustration I was accused of being aggressive and the call was shortly ended. When my wife mentioned this to the receptionist we were told that 'she' would have done the same. They could not care and refused to offer an apology. I am outraged at the lack of empathy and acuusational behaviour. It made me feel guilty for complaining about my basic right as a paying customer.

Booked a relativeyl expensive option to provide pool for my family to find that this isn't useable unless you book the additional spa package or we could pay £20 per person extra! Pull out sofa bed had dust clouds rising from it everytime my children moved in their bed. May as well stopped at the travellodge down the road.

Really lovely stay here between visits to Blue Planet Aquarium and Chester Zoo. Room was ideal for our family and was incredibly clean and comfortable. Food in the restaurant was outstanding and service exceptional (Nina of the service staff was SO lovely and amazing with the kids). Would definitely recommend and revisit.

Really disappointing! We chose this hotel for their swimming facilities- to be told when we got there that no 16's allowed so we had 2 very disappointed boys. Had google map the nearest leisure pool! Dinner menu is okish! My son has allergies so we chose his dinner carefully onlt to be brought the wrong thing altogether! No offer of replacement just a shrug of the shoulders! For the money we paid and knowingly we had children it would of been nice to be told about the age restrictions of the pool!

My stay at the hotel was very comfortable. I only used my room as somewhere to stay as I attended a family function. But, my stay was very pleasant and more than matched my expectations

We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights between Christmas and New Year. We stayed in a suite as a couple with a toddler. We didn’t find the staff to be very friendly or helpful. The room was tired, basic and wasn’t particularly clean. This is our second visit to this hotel and we much preferred the first visit.

BEWARE AND READ ABOUT THE POOL. The hotel itself is fine, it has some nice features and on arrival we were looking forward to exploring. It went downhill at check out when we were told that our daughter could not use the pool as she needed to be over 16. We specifically used the search functions in Expedia to find a good hotel with a pool as we generally spend a lot of time in the pool and associated facilities. We were told we could use a sister hotel's facilities in the centre of Chester, which was less than desirable but hey ho. Despite raising this with the duty manager and Expedia I still have yet to receive some sort of recompense. This hotel markets itself as "for families" so probably needs to address the fact that there is a pool but families cannot use it. I understand it is a SPA but it should not associate the fact that it has the facilities and caters for families. Next to come was the very off putting security guards at the gate and around the hotel. We gathered that a travelling family had parked themselves in the corner of the car park and were not for moving! They did on the last day but there was an air of trouble around the building. The room itself was decent enough and most of the staff were very good, including the very under pressure lady bar staff who were brilliant and despite being run off of their feet were always cheerful. The above comments are first world issues really but when you work hard and need a break, you just want it to be easy!

Booked this property as a stop over on a longer trip. Told at check -in that our children couldn't use the pool as they were under 16 and this was a "spa hotel". This should have been made clearer at time if booking. Husband went to use sauna later on only to be asked for £10 extra - even though we were residents for the night. Overall, nice hotel but tainted by experiences there.
