Hilton Garden Inn Toronto/Oakville

It was good for what we needed. 45 min from Rodgers center at a 1/4 of the downtown price. It was quaint. I mean it not a Ritz Carlton obv but a good clean family choice for a reasonable price.

While i know its not directly controllable. There were kids hockey teams staying at the hotel. That's not the problem as i used to play competitive sports. The problem is the kids were playing hockey in the hall ways while their parents stood their and openly drank until late at night. There was no supervision in the pool (it was WAY OVER capacity) and i got hit in the upper body 3 times by kids horse playing around. I understand it should be the discretion of the parents over looking their kids behavior, but if the staff of the hotel are aware of this many people staying there they should at the very least be checking the areas of where they are staying.

We booked this without cancellation as my wife and I had no reason to. My mother-in-law passed suddenly a few days before. I called the Hotel to ask about cancelling and was told I needed to contact Orbitz as it was through a third party and they were unable to. Orbitz called the hotel and explained the sudden death in our family and asked if they could make an exception on cancelling without being charged but they refused to. Day of we decided to make use of it and get out of the house and in a different scenery for my wife to maybe help in some way. At around 10am we were able to assign a room, 3pm was check-in. We arrived at about 2:30ish but the room was not yet ready. So I asked why do they assign rooms early and not have them ready? I was told to wait until about 3pm and come back. Just after 3pm the room was still not ready and again I asked why assign rooms and not have them ready? If you assign rooms at 3pm check-in you assign a room that is available BUT if you assign a room at 10am those rooms assign should have priority in being ready as they are already assigned and then you get the rest of the rooms ready. Well at 3:15pm it was still not ready and we had to change our room. Now for the room. It had this awful odor, the Air Conditioner was broken, extremely loud, staff at the counter was ignorant and rude as per my comments above. The room was dirty, walking on the carpets and your white socks end up black underneath. Disgusting.

Overall I had a great experience with this property. The location was perfect. The set up with breakfast was just odd to me. First - I've never experienced getting asked if I was a guest in their facility. I was on my way in to get breakfast when an employee stopped and asked me for my name in front of other guest who just walked right pass me. That was embarrassing. I had to provide a room number which I couldn't remember on top of my head and a keycard. Never in my life that I was stopped for breakfast. 2nd - As I sat down with my food - there was no utensils, cups/mugs for coffee which was usually available for guest to just pick up on the counter. Needed to get somebody's attention for it. 3rd - garbage - repeatedly asked for a bag or for my bin to be emptied - I don't know if this is a Canadian thing and they don't use plastic or any other type of a liner. I stayed here for a few days and had a pile of garbage in my room. But overall I like the place.. Very convenient for me and my family.

Horrible stay. Hockey team weekend where there was a tournament, so filled with children and overtired adults. As night approached it became open season for drinking and open containers of alcohol. Poor look for the parents, poor look for anyone checking in: no parking left at all, had to use a satellite lot, no ability to bring your bags in (kids were riding them). Hotel staff was there, that’s about as much as I can say about the service. They say 3 star, my experience was 2 star. Would never pay any premium to stay here in Oakville vs. Competition.

Location is convenient. Staff is nice. Clean hotel and rooms are nice and spacious for a family.

This place needs a solid deep cleaning. There’s hair everywhere, and the carpets are naaaaassstttyyy. I steam clean my carpets every six months, have dogs and a cat, and even then they’re cleaner than the ones here. Couldn’t stay here. Too gross. That being said, the location is fantastic, there are plenty of good dining options for families and couples, and the parking was plentiful and close to the building. The front desk staff were also very lovely and tried their best to accommodate me. Shame that the place is kinda dirty. Better housekeeping would boost this place significantly!

Traveling with young children and this is a great hotel to stay. Easy check in, friendly staff especially young lady at check out, nice clean pool that our kids loved and a hot tub I very much enjoyed. My husband especially enjoyed the exercise room. Very comfy beds. Safe secure room. Very good experience, will stay here again

Comfortable beds, quiet area, close to dining, free parking and wifi. My children and I arrived after an 8-drive from the North. If youre looking for just a place to sleep, then this is it. I pre-paid so check in happened within seconds. It was so quick; I just signed for my car parking/incidentals, was given my key and thats it. No info about pool opening/closures, alternative entrances (my room was near the back of hotel) or breakfast start/end. I had to press for this info. If I didnt do so much travelling, I wouldn't have thought to ask. Environment just didnt seem very friendly. We went for a late dinner and slept when we got back. I figured out the wifi on my own- realizing nothing was on my room key envelope I got at check-in. The bulbs at the bedside were burnt out. One switch to turn one of the bedside lamps on/off was completely non functional too. When I went to make coffee in the AM there was old used cup still in the machine. Gross. Likely will not be staying here again unless Im desperate for a room.
