Holiday Inn Express & Suites Newport News, an IHG Hotel

Very mediocre. Appropriate for families, but don't expect anything remarkable about the property.

I needed three rooms, two side by side, because we were travelling with children . When I first booked the rooms, I was told we could have adjoining rooms. However, when I called the week before our stay just to be sure we were all set, I was told the hotel does not have adjoining rooms but David, the young man who answered the phone, told me he would do his best to see that we got side by side rooms. Well, he certainly delivered beautifully! Our rooms were exactly what we needed, thanks to him! He was present when we checked in and couldn't have been nicer to us! What a great young man! In addition, every staff member we met was above and beyond helpful and friendly. It definitely made our stay a thoroughly enjoyable one! Thank you, one and all!

This hotel has the potential of being a luxury hotel but it needs to fix somethings. The tv did not work. I forgot to take pictures of the bathroom; it had low water pressure in the sink, the toilet set was stained, the toilet was way to low to the ground, the wall next to the tub the paint was peeling badly and the wall needed some major repairs, their was a boot print on the ceiling (I don't want to know how it got there) and their was on large hair line crack going around the ceiling of the room. I called the service desk about the tv and was told that the Lifetime channel was having problems but all of hte channels were having problems. Not only that there were other guest complaining about the tv to the service desk. Thank you for having free parking and for having great staff members. Megan was wonderful. I hope she does well in school. Oh and thank you for putting my family on the same floor and down the hall from each other. That made the say more bearable especially with that ugly bathroom.
