DoubleTree by Hilton Front Royal Blue Ridge Shadows

Booked a room with 2 queen beds since I’m traveling with my wife and daughter, as specified during booking. Pre paid as well in full. Arrived at the hotel, checked in, got to our room where we found it was just a single king bed. Assumed positively that there was just a mistake so headed back down to adjust. When speaking with front desk about having the incorrect room, the same staff member that checked us informed me “we over booked and sold out” yet this was not shared at any point til now. Feel that such information should have been communicated when originally checking in. Communicated how our family needs two beds and was displeased with lack of communication and was open minded for solutions. Was offered a different but bigger single king room, two separate rooms on opposite sides of the floor (my daughter is 6), and lastly more blankets so she could sleep on the floor. No true apology or validation of inconvenience. Frequent front royal area every other month and always book here, impacted to not moving forward. Room quality is great, pool area is great, no other issues.

Staff seemed perturbed , annoyed when requesting a child crib. The hot tub needs to be cleaned , the whole pool area has a big infestation ; numerous bugs crawling up the glass windows. Plenty of towels to use down at pool, room was spacious and beds comfortable!

Customer service was fantastic. We loved the bottles of water and cookies for the kiddos. Room was clean. Houlihans Restaurant was convenient walking distance, and we enjoyed our stay.

Staff was friendly. indoor pool was very nice for kids. There was a restaurant conveniently located on premise. Room was mostly clean but the soap and shampoo was not refilled.

Everyone was so friendly, especially the lady who checked us in. Very nice looking hotel and a comfortable stay. There were a few things that could be improved: the floor around the pool was very slippery and could use some sort of non-slip topper. The indoor pool was chilly. The bath tub was dirty in the corners and around the overflow drain (normally I wouldn’t notice but I was bathing my toddler.) overall a great stay!

Beautiful views, located just outside endless sightseeing, hiking, and caverns. Made a spur of the moment booking due to evacuating hurricane Ian from a FL vacation. My family ended up absolutely loving Front Royal. Will definitely be back.
