Holiday Inn Winchester Se-Historic Gateway, an IHG Hotel

This hotel is really made for working, traveling, families. There is something for everyone! I had to stay for a week to be near family but couldn’t take off work and my small child was still out of school. I was easily able to work during the day and my daughter could swim in the pool in the evening. And I cannot say enough good things about all of the staff!!

The pool was out of order which was VERY disappointing for my kids. We were on a very long road trip and they were looking forward to swimming. Call ahead if this is important to you. Also, breakfast is not included for the price. Other than that, pretty run-of-the-mill roadside hotel.

The hotel is located just of I81, meets expectations, it was quiet, and a good place to rest for an overnight on the road. Breakfast is extra, menu limited. There's a much better Perkins restaurant nearby. Went to the bar for a drink in the evening. The place was a mess, more of a family rec room than a place to sit and have a cocktail.

We did not realize that Holiday Inn does not operate in the same way that Holiday Inn Express does for breakfasts. On the front end of our trip we stayed at a very nice Holiday Inn Express and had an excellent, fast breakfast buffet. On the return trip we decided to go a bit further down the road toward home, choosing this hotel. We didn't realize that Holiday Inns (or at least this one) only have a full service restaurant-- no buffet....so when it came time for breakfast we had to go into the restaurant, wait for the waitress to bring menus, wait to order, wait for food, wait for the check, etc-- slowed us down by about 40 minutes. In addition, when we made reservations we selected the rate that included a free breakfast. We made reservations for 3 adults (parents and one college age child) and our reservation showed that plus "full breakfast." On check in the clerk issued us a voucher for $20 for the restaurant for breakfast-- but in looking at the menu, it was not possible to get 3 breakfasts for $20. After a lot of back and forth discussion, the clerk finally issued us another $10 voucher which just covered breakfast costs. So-- two bits of advice for those considering this hotel: know that your reservation with "free breakfast" will probably only cover PART of the cost and two, that there is no fast, buffet option. We won't stay here again.

The front desk was rude cuz my kids wanted to go Swiming more then once?All customers where all on the 5th floor,why??? The pool entrance by front door & it was cold! The staff said we talk to loud? Rude....wouldn't go there again!

Very friendly staff. Took good care of us. King room was big enough for two adults and two small children.
