Holiday Inn Express - Layton, an IHG Hotel

First off we didn't know that the hotel was under construction for renovations. This was a family trip and we planned to use the pool and sauna to soak. They were closed. I went back and looked at the listing from hotels.com and then saw there was a thin line (Definitely should be more BOLD) thru the word pool. So my bad. Our check in was a bit late in the day so there wasn't time to look for a different stay. We decided to bite the bullet and stay here anyways. Next we discovered the internet wasn't working. When we went to call down to the desk our phone wasn't working. These issues were not resolved. In the morning we received a "covid" brown bag for the infamous breakfast, remember that old ad - "should of stayed at holiday inn express". Yaaa nope. Bag consisted of either an apple or a banana and a muffin. Beds were very hard. We booked for six people and thankfully we brought some of our own bedding since there wasn't enough for all. Also on our final morning my family left early and I stayed to sleep a bit longer. The room attendant and the front desk were both informed by my wife that i was still in the room sleeping and to please not disturb me. But shortly thereafter the room attendant came in the room and woke me up. Ok so that was the bad. To be fair here is the good. It was very hot while we were there and the AC worked great! Nice cold air with good flow. The shower had fantastic pressure and was quite hot and the blackout curtains worked too

The bed king bed we got with the jetted tub. It was so comfy and nice. I would tell my family and friends to stay here. Slept in was so nice. Used the jetted tub twice and it was pretty big for a couple. I got lucky cuz i used hotels.com and their was only 1 left. I needed it right the next day too and got it. The only prob was the remote for the tv was a little complicated and wanted to turn the tv off so we could sleep n it wouodnt shut off. I also loved that their were dispensers in the shower that had dove shampoo and conditioner and body wash. It was amazing to use that cuz it was so soft on my hair n body right after we used the pool and jacuzzi down stairs by the front desk and breakfast area. Skipped breakfast cuz the bed was so comfy n we stayed up late watching tv. Thanks again!! We sure will use this hotel again one day soon.

The staff was great. We booked the room to have our kids swim for the night. But the pool was a bit cold. We did have a couple of bugs in our room which was not fun. Other then that it was good.

Room 131 heater only got like warm. 1 st night very cold in room. Asked for extra blanket told under staff could not have one because of holiday. Requested in notes in booking. Both breakfast times was very unorganized. Breakfast had no cinnamon rolls, eggs, and no bread. Came at 8:00am. Many large families. At some point this company has to put a limit on amount people can take because other consumers get nothing. Swimming area was very slippery & unattended children screaming. Front desk did nothing. I suggest maybe a quiet time for the pool for adults. Could not relax at all! Cleaning staff did all they could. I was moved the 2nd day to a room with a better heater.
