Courtyard by Marriott Layton

The hotel was great. I had zero issues with the hotel itself. They accommodated me from the beginning I asked for a room with a balcony they made sure I had it. They checked on us every day to see if we needed anything additional. They were always polite and courteous not only to me, but my children as well the pool was clean. The hot tub was clean. I have zero complaints about my steady.

First thing when we walked in the door we got hit with some kind of foul smell in the room.Stains on the furniture. It looked like dog hair on the floor around the bed. Refrigerator in the room didn’t work. Our patio was over the entrance second floor with a little kids slipper and some trash. It was an okay stay but will not recommend or will we be back.

We traveled to Layton/Ogden for a family funeral. Needless to say, our reason for the visit wasn't a pleasant one, but our stay was. Thank you Courtyard Marriott for making it comfortable during an uncomfortable time.

The hotel was clean and met our needs. The staff was friendly and efficient. One small issue was the fact that I had reserved a room with two queen beds and there was not one available when we arrived. Instead we had a room with a King and fold away sofa sleeper. Since we had two children with us, the sofa sleeper worked, however as an adult I would not have been happy to sleep on it.

The hotel is conveniently located next to the I-15 corridor, yet the noise from the traffic was not an issue in the room. We were pleased with the larger than expected room. There are plenty of shopping/dining options within walking distance. The reason for a sub-par rating is based on three reasons: 1- the floor in the room vibrated constantly, 2- the sheer curtains were torn, and 3- the continental breakfast was outrageously priced for the level of service and product offered, no discount for children. The scant fare was limited to breads, cold cereal, some fruit, yogurt and fruit juices. With only six guests dining at the time, they ran out of bowls/silverware, and the staff was very slow to restock food choices. We stayed at the Fairfield by Marriott last year and their FREE continental breakfast put Coutyard's to shame; we felt ripped off.
