Holiday Inn Express and Suites San Marcos South, an IHG Hotel

The overall experience was very nice and the night clerk was super friendly and welcomed us with open arms. When we were heading to our room I noticed a house keeper was laying over bedding in a cart while she was on her cell phone. Once we arrived to our room I noticed the blinds were up and wanted to close blinds for privacy, the blinds were broken and had to unfold blinds and remove them from a channel slotted they we placed in because the draw string mechanism was broke. No big deal and can live with a few issues & make it work. The next morning we went to get coffee and found a baby Keurig machine used to make coffee. A pitcher of water was left so you can pour water into Keurig machine & left out variety of pods. A day goes by and wanted to speak to someone at front desk regarding a small charge on my credit card from Holiday Inn Express, I was just curious because I went through Expedia. I made a phone call and spoke with a lady at front desk and everything was cleared up. Before getting off the phone I mentioned a few issues and her voice was giving a sense of frustration and felt disappointed in their way in handling complaint calls. I wasn't even going to write a review but, after this call I felt it needed to be written.

Absolutely loved this property! Took my kids on our first river trip and had an absolute blast. It was wonderful coming back to a safe, clean property with up to date clean facilities and shower and lay in a cozy bed. The breakfasts are great and the staff is EXTREMELY helpful and friendly. Will definitely be returning to this location!

The pool area didnt have any towels available to use so you had to use the ones from the room. When we asked the front desk for more towels for a family of 5 they gave us 2 and acted as if it was a burden.

We had a nice stay, beds were comfortable, my children used a sofa bed, we had to ask for blankets and pillows. The front desk didn’t have any pillows available, so the children used the couch cushions for pillows. Breakfast was decent, pancakes were hit with the children.

This is our go to place for our family road trips. Melody was stellar and more than amazing when we checked in!! She interacted with my daughter and we had fun conversations throughout our stay. Made sure our room was to our satisfaction and asked if we needed anything else such as towels or blankets. Room was clean. Bathroom was clean as well. The AC blew cold air, the vent only blew down. However we always travel with a fan so we used that to resolve the issue. Did not partake in the breakfast due to time but from what we saw, it looked good. There are only two things that I would like to see improved. First one, recycling bins. Shopping at the malls and stores in the area, you get bags and boxes that should be recycled verses filling up the trash cans. The second thing is, the elevator smells like a musty junior high kid/wet dog. It was very hot and humid so I know that didn’t help. But the smell was not a great way start to someone’s overall opinion of the hotel. We definitely will be back when traveling that way.
