Red Roof Inn Clarksville

We were disappointed with this hotel. We had high hopes because of the 8.0+ score when we booked it. We book a lot through this site, and usually an 8.0+ is good (can't remember a time it wasn't good). What we liked: - the woman at the front desk was very friendly, even took time to find us a bottle opener for our wine - the location was surrounded by food and a Walmart for supplies - we like hardwood floors in hotel rooms What we really didn't like: - the floors in the room were soooo dirty, just a few steps and my feet were pitch black with dirt (like a construction crew stayed the night before and it wasn't cleaned) - I can't explain why, but the room was always damp-- our towels would never dry, our sheets always felt slightly wet - not that we were gonna use the pool, but the pool is really disgusting... it's emptied out and full of trash + trash water - we found some bugs in our room, little beetles, arguably a baby roach - you can't put a hold on an infant crib-- part of the reason we booked the hotel was that they had a pack n play for our kid, and when we got there, it was already in-use (I partially blame ourselves for rolling the dice) Maybe we got a bad room. I don't know. We weren't expecting a fancy hotel by any means, but we were expecting a clean room at the very least. I really don't like leaving these kind of reviews, but I felt like the current score isn't reflective of this hotel and it needs to be taken down a notch.

Our stay was good and our beds were incredibly comfortable. Sheets and blankets were crisply clean. However, we travelled with another family and one of the two beds in their room felt like carboard over milk crates (the other was very comfortable). It was odd. My only complaint is that I could not go outside without covering my nose with my jacket for all the cigarette and marijuana smoke. This Red Roof Inn was nestled in a group of hotels, so I do not know which hotel's guests were doing all the smoking. Our friends did have to contact the hotel person on futy around 2 in the morning regarding a truck that was sitting in the parking lot blaring their music. He adressed the issue immediately. Service was quite exceptional! Tom was the overnight hotel clerk on duty.
