Hyatt Place Sumter / Downtown

Overall the hotel was good for a two night stay for a family event in the area. Rooms were clean and beds were comfortable but small.

The people and the convenience are awesome! Go to the S.O.B. for small plates and family/couple/ business fun! That place has it ALL. We went with our two small boys and felt so welcomed. Had a great time and had delicious eats.

If you come for the short visit to see your family , like we did this is a best place to stay. This Hotel is located right in the heart of the downtown Sumter next to many restaurants within walking distance. We stay here before and loved it, but this time we were a little disappointed by the cleanliness of our room. However we spoke with Sheryl who is the ma ager and she was very attractive and she took care of it. This one time incidents for sure will not stop us from coming back here.

The hotel was very nice and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was disappointing. Soggy French toast sticks and undercooked hash browns were the main course. There was no fruit to go with the plain Greek yogurt provided, and the toaster was out of order. Our room was on the first floor, right next to an exit door to the back parking lot. I was standing outside my room, waiting for my kids to let me in, looking out the glass exit door. A man was walking through the lot and noticed me there. He stuck out his hand and pointed to whatever was there and yelled “you want??” And then made the gesture for smoking pot. Uh, no thank you. I know this isn’t the hotel’s fault, but it was a little unsettling, especially being a single mom traveling with 3 teens. Thankfully this was just a 1-night stopover on our way to Virginia. I won’t be staying in Sumter again on future trips.

This property is newer, very clean and the staff was very friendly. There was lots to do around the hotel. The room was large enough for 2 adults a child and a small dog.
