Spruce Lane Lodge and Cottages

The property was very quaint. We loved out little room as it was perfect for a stay in the Lancaster area for a family reunion. We felt the room was very clean and it was very quiet as well. The desk clerk was very helpful in getting us an extra blanket for my Mother. Very nice property and we would stay there again. Thank you

We have enjoyed staying at this property before. This time was a little strange. If the room hadnt already been paid for we would have moved. Check in process was creepy. The gentleman didnt even say hello. He just said id/ credir card. He then gets on the phone and gives all my info to someone. He got upset when i asked what he was doing. He said it was online check in. I said ok but he but it woukd be better to let someone know what was going on not just start giving info away over the phone. He then walked me to the cottage. Would not talk to me but only to my husband. He then stood in parking lot and watched us unload all of our stuff and kept staring at our kids. Every time we came and went he was outside staring at us. Made us all very uneasy. The room was spacious but needed to be cleaned better. Found empty water bottle, pills and white powder on floor by bed. Bathtub was always dirty. This use to be a very cute place but not anymore

I am disappointed and still waiting for a refund. First, here is the description from our booking: "Room details Family House Reserved for Heather, 2 adults, 2 children Requests 4 Double Beds and 2 Double Sofa Beds" This makes it sound like a cottage with two rooms. It was two completely separate rooms. I was not comfortable having two locked doors between us and the kids. Also, there were no sofa beds, so that was just a lie. When we got there, we got all set up and then realized the AC was broken in our room. We all squeezed into the kids' room. We called the next morning to let them know and tell them we wouldn't be using the 2nd room, and we asked them to refund it. They said ok. Then, that evening, my husband turned on the shower, and the handle broke off in his hand. We called them to come fix it, but they couldn't, so we had to now move to a third room. When we got home after the weekend, I saw that they had charged us the full price. I called several times and never got a satisfactory response, or the promised callback, or anything. I set up a dispute with my credit card instead. We were hoping for a charming Amish stay for the low price, but we just got cheap junk!

Nice and quiet. Convenient parking. Clean. My children enjoyed watching airplanes take off from the small airport behind the property.

We were very disappointed with our stay for the following reasons: 1. There was an open container of ant poison on the windowsill, my young child immediately walked into the room and put his hands into it. This was unacceptable to discover. 2. My spouse stepped on an exposed sharp carpet staple in the floor and almost cut his foot. 3. Room smelled of old cigarettes 4. I found the check-in process to be extremely impersonal. And was not thrilled when I was told by a person at the front desk that the “system was down” and to call the number. And then I saw the email that said the hotel does not do in person check in. The misleading statement accompanied by a very impersonal overseas call service to handle the check-in process was not a customer friendly experience. My overall impression is the owner/manager is interested in making this a low cost operation in their own best interest with little to no consideration for the customer. This was my second stay here. I will look for other accommodations next time I am in the area.
