Brandywine River Hotel is a lovely peaceful, clean and secured place to stay. The staff is simply delightful and there are nearby restaurants and bakery that are walk-able. This is the only hotel that I've ever stayed at that had wonderful firm pillows and soft ones too. The mattress was just right and the tub in the shower had a non-slip texture too. This was a blessing with my bad knees and my fear of slipping and falling. I will definitely be back again with the rest of my family. This truly a lovely hotel if you just want to have a peaceful weekend get away.

I stayed one night with two kids, so we could visit the art museum. It was nice to be right there in the middle of everything we wanted to do, so we didn’t waste time driving around on our short trip. It was also nice to stay somewhere with a little character, vs the chain hotels. The person at the front desk was welcoming and helpful. There were the usual breakfast options, and the breakfast room was very cute and bright. It’s an older building with some older fixtures, so if you want new and shiny, this might not be the hotel for you, but it’s clean, friendly, and distinctive, and you really can’t beat the proximity to the museum, shops, and restaurants!

The lady that checked us in was very nice. She was stationed at the desk, but arrived quickly when we pushed the doorbell. The phone in my friends room didn’t work. He has a cell phone, but the house would have helped him. The breakfast was at the low end. Cold cereal or a waffle. The had hard boiled eggs, but no scrambled eggs or breakfast meats like sausage or bacon. No juice machine. Boxed juice with a straw like kids drink. No microwave in room. No apparent security. The front door was unlocked and there was no one at the front desk. Despite some of the issues, I feel it is a good value, it had a very comfortable bed and it the very convenient for getting to the Brandywine River Museum and Longwood gardens. I have stayed here several times before and I will likely stay here again.

The cleanest hotel I have stayed in all summer. The surroundings are quiet and my family and I felt very safe. It was like being at a bed and breakfast property.
