Holiday Inn Portsmouth Downtown, an IHG Hotel

I always stay jere when I visit my family in Ohio. This time there was a lot of construction that limited parking. Also the elevator was broken the day we left and had to carry everything down 4 flights of stairs.

This is about the 5th time we've stayed here while visiting Portsmouth. The room and bed is comfortable and both the sink and shower have good water pressure and drain well. While the tub/shower has a grab bar, there are no skid strips or bath mat in the tub, which made it a little slippery. The room amenities include a mini fridge, microwave, coffee maker and room darkening blinds. As usual, we went to the Ribber for an excellent dinner and then down to Patties and Pints for an after dinner drink. The pool was closed and parking was limited due to hotel renovations. The hotel has a bar/restaurant, but we were too late to make breakfast, as it is only served until 10:00 am. It is also within walking distance to the Flood Wall Murals, which are beautiful.

Very comfortable and clean. Walls are thin, you can hear TV from neighbor and we had couple with kids and they were screaming and in and out slamming the door until after midnight. Otherwise no issues.

I make this annual 4th of July trip to see my parents and other family members. This is our third year staying here and it has become our home away from home. Every single person working there are the nicest people you will ever know to work in a hotel. They take care of you, they engage you in conversation. It's the little things like the Terry, Lisa and Crystal that pay extra attention that you have a young child. One night for dinner Terry cooled off our daughter's macaroni and cheese before bringing it to the table. Lisa and Crystal were playful with her. The front desk staff were quick to find towels for the pool. I just can't say enough about this hotel. And it's a great location. Right there in the heart of downtown Portsmouth, walking distance to Shawnee College and other shops. Can't wait until next year!

Very good pool and hot tub area. Our family enjoyed the visit.
