Homewood Suites by Hilton Dayton-South

Went for my families 66th family reunion. The room was nice and comfy, breakfast tasty, and staff were pleasant. Location is in range of many restaurants, the mall, and activities such as bowling alley. Would definitely book again if we go back out that way.

Both morning and night staff were great, friendly and helpful! The seating area was spacious, comfortable and we were able to hang out there for hours with friends and family. The room was nice, the bed comfortable and all the amenities for our one night stay. Breakfast was good too!

First, I will say the breakfast was very nice and our family appreciated that. Second our room was clean at arrival, which was good. However, the night we arrived the smoke detector in our room, was beeping and the gentleman at the desk said he could do nothing about it and didn’t know how to change a battery. He gave us a 9 V battery and said to give that a try. It did not work, but thankfully, we were able to disconnect the smoke detector, without setting off alarms throughout the hotel. We just kept the smoke detector unplugged for the duration of our stay. Our room also had a very leaky shower faucet that dripped rapidly all night. Based on the fact they couldn’t solve the smoke detector we assumed they would be able to do nothing about the shower faucet, and simply put washcloths under it so you couldn’t hear the dripping as loudly. There was also a lot of street noise that could be heard from inside our hotel, which I was surprised that you could hear traffic even with the windows closed. Lastly, housekeeping during the stay was nonexistent. Our first morning there as we left for our day I told the front desk that we were out of the room and it was available for cleaning and fresh towels. She told me they wouldn’t be able to clean it until we checked out and if we wanted fresh towels, we could get them ourselves at the front desk. This was not a cheap stay and I thought with it being by Hilton, it would be better. We will not be staying there again.

I stayed at the property April 2022 while attending a funeral. I was given two dirty rooms. One had a dirty bathroom and the next had a dirty kitchen. We had gotten in super late with kids or else I would have stayed somewhere else. Both bathrooms had mold and peeling wall paper. The staff was not very helpful, except for Tiffany. We couldn’t get any towels or blankets the first night because the front desk clerk said the closet was locked. Everyone here smokes and they all smoke right in front of the building. I also had to carry my babies down the stairs in the stroller because they turned off the elevator and put signs saying it was out of order just for someone to do measurements on the inside. The staff was nonchalant and didn’t care that we were having a hard time. When I asked for a card to the manager the assistant answered the phone and didn’t have her reach out to me. Please find another place until they are done updating. Don’t stay here.

The room was dated and dirty. There were crumbs on the floor in front of the couch, stains on the carpet, cobwebs in the corners near the ceiling, the bathroom floor was dirty, and the pans in the drawer were gross. There was an electrical outlet cover that was missing a screw so the plate kept falling off and exposing the bare electrical connections. We have young children so I wasn’t very happy about the safety hazard. The toilet seat was loose and the faucet in the rusty bathtub kept dripping even when it was turned off all the way. For some reason the TV in the kitchen/living room area was blurry. The walls in our room were paper thin. We could hear our neighbors talking and people getting in and out of their cars in the parking lot. We are Hilton rewards members but I booked through Orbitz so we were treated like second class customers. When we checked in they made a point of mentioning that we booked through a second party instead of through the Hilton app so we couldn’t use their normal WiFi password. Apparently we received a different breakfast from customers who booked through the Hilton app too. Our breakfast was basically what you would give a kindergartner for a snack.
