Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott Columbus Canal Winchester

The property was nice and clean. Newer hotel located in commercial area. Nice staff and continental breakfast was as expected. My only complaint was there are no full length mirrors in the rooms. Great stay with family for graduation weekend.

Our first night, there weren’t a lot of people. However, someone who was staying there ended up staying in the room next to us. I was up until 3:30am because that room was playing music so loud I could feel it in the headboard. Talking, swearing so loudly. My husband did go down to talk to the front desk and they said they would go listen and call them if it didn’t stop. We had our children sleeping with us, so moving at 3am wasn’t an option. When the music finally stopped, they were just talking very loudly and it was practically like they were in the room with us. [I did get a response from the hotel after our stay, and they just said “someone went up there and didn’t hear anything and we didn’t complain again] So basically you need to complain multiple times, because everyone loves having to walk down to the front desk in the middle of the night:/ Also, we left. suitcase in the closet at the hotel and didn’t realize until night. We called the hotel and they said “oh yeah we have it here” I’m just surprised that when it was brought to the front desk no one would have called us and said “hey you left your suitcase here” my name, phone number and email was all on the outside of the suitcase. [we did get a response to this, that since things are often left there, they do not call anyone] which ok I understand, but I think it goes to the customer service aspect of “hey there’s a number right here, let’s maybe be kind and give them a call if we aren’t busy”

Everything was great with our stay except for the fact that the walls between rooms adjacent and below were thin. The first night of our stay, there was a room (or rooms) below us having some kind of party with loud music until 2am. It was making it hard to sleep so I ended up calling the front desk. I didn't know which specific room but the guy was nice and said he'd go take a walk around. I heard him knock on their door and the music quieted for about 15min and then they were back at it. I doubted any more strict action would be taken so instead just lay there until they finally stopped and I could sleep. I figured it was just the sheer loudness of the downstairs neighbors rather than thinness on the walls until the next night when we could hear the family with their kids in the room next to ours. So I guess crappy soundproofing is the reason for the multiple signs around the property about quiet hours after 10pm, which they don't do much to enforce. For being such a newly built property, it's a shame that they didn't do a better job soundproofing between rooms.
