Desert Sand Resort

Needed a place to stay in Avalon for a family wedding. Desert Sands was conveniently located within walking distance of the event. It would be even nicer had the on-site restaurant was operational. Also the signage to the check-in location could have been clearer... no big deal, just a suggestion.

I have stayed here for years, since I was a child. I'm 51 now. I have always loved staying here with my family & this time it was a little different. Even though we were The biggest thing was that we has 3 adults staying in the room & it has 2 queen beds & a pull out bed. The problem was. It was myself & my husband & My mother staying. She is 79 years old & like I normally do I slept with my husband, but could not get out of the bed, because the 2 queen beds are pushed up against the wall. WHY?? Everything else was nice, but if you can't get out of the bed, then is it really worth it. I ended up sleeping on the couch & not with my husband for our 1st vacation away in 4 years. Disappointed is a understatement. Feel like I should get some of my money back . :(

Room was clean and spacious. I was not expecting 1.5 bath. Staff was probably the friendliest I have encountered at the shore. Hotel amenities were nice. Even after checkout we were permitted to use the beach passes until 3 and allowed to shower in the locker near the indoor pool after a couple hrs on the beach. This was great because we had to small kids who love the sand.
