Holiday Inn Kansas City Airport, an IHG Hotel

From the very start this place was terrible. They booked another family to the room we were already in. They activated a key to the room we were already in. The room was dirty. There was a toothbrush in the bathroom and trash on the floor. The air conditioner didn’t work. Mind you we stayed in August in the heat of summer. Their only response to any of it was simply ok. No offer to accommodate our experience or to change rooms. Do Not Recommend

Booked a double bed for my family of 5. Arrived and was told there were only king beds available and no roll aways. We were there for an event at the adjoining convention center and needed to stay there. We took the king room. Later that evening, I asked the man at the desk if we would be able to move into a double room the next day if someone checked out. He informed me there were currently two empty double rooms that the people didn't show up to claim. I asked if my family of 5 could move into one. He told me no because these no-shows booked a double room. AS DID I...7 months in advance. Again, I asked if we could move into that empty room since we also booked a double room. He told me I didn't understand, pushed away from the desk and threw his hands up and raised his voice and said "what do you want from me?" Horrible experience. The next day another front desk person offered us a blow up mattress they found in a storage bin. It wouldn't hold air so my kids slept on the floor. The floor was dirty and stained. The touch up paint they used all over did not match the original paint. They forgot to paint one wall. Our shower door didn't close. And we found a few bugs crawling on the wall. Oh and my hair smelled liked cigarettes from the stinky pillows.

We were not aware of the changes to be dropped off at the airport, but the staff (front desk and driver) made us aware and helped us through with all our stuff (lots of luggage with a baby)! They were great! Also had a nice conversation with the front desk attendant about our babies!

The hotel staff are friendly. I enjoyed my stay in April and decided to book my stay at this location again. The rooms are spacious and economical. The hallways, elevators lobby are always clean. I will recommend Holiday Inn, Kansas City Airport, IHG on Ambassador to all of my friends and family who travel to Kansas City. Missouri.

The 2 window blinds both malfunctioned and the windows didn’t open. The carpet in the hallway was heavily worn and breakfast wasn’t included in my stay. The breakfast buffet was over priced and the food was lousy. Both elevators were rickety and questionable. I did house cleaning a favor by removing every pillow case cover and bedding before I left. I was left feeling like I had to check it for cleanliness. Major disappointment. Our family won’t go back. My advice is spend a little more and stay in a nicer hotel downtown around family activities.

Friendly staff. Clean room. The walls are thin and you can hear the other families in the next room, but overall, I will stay here again,

The hotel was in a nice area. You can see planes flying from your room window. Overall cleanliness was pretty good. Rooms do have a lil smell to them. Hallways have a even worse smell. But the entrance makes it seem like it’s a nice elegant hotel. They do not offer breakfast unless you pay for it. But the only thing I didn’t like was that we were on the 5th floor with kids. We ended up getting a complaint about them bumping. Normally when you have kids with you they are supposed to put you in a corner room or a lower level room. Also another thing their towels were kind of dirty and dingy looking. So ask for fresh towels. Beds sleep alright. Air was super cold. Other than that I think it’s a okay place to stay coming in from the airport.

I was disappointed to see that there was no continental breakfast. There was also no rollaway bed for our third child and no complimentary coffee. All things that a nice hotel should cater to their guests.

We tried to check in at normal check in time and our room wasn't ready yet. We were NOT the only ones waiting either. They told us about 15 minutes, so we went and grabbed some food, went back an hour later and it STILL wasn't ready. The staff was on edge. One even walked away from the front desk and left the other guy by himself because it was "too stressful". My family stood in the lobby for about an hour waiting for a room along with 3 other families also waiting for their rooms. They gave us keys saying it was finally clean and when we got there it wasn't clean at all. We had to change clothes in a dirty room so we wouldn't be late to our concert. The cleaning lady also took our room keys from us. We didn't get back until after midnight and luckily the room was ready by then. No one offered any compensation for all of the trouble. I would NEVER recommend this hotel to anyone. It was an absolute awful experience.
