Hampton Inn Detroit/Northville

This is a decent hotel, but we were quite upset because we were told they had an open pool and then we check in and are told it has been closed for months. My kids had their bathing suits and were very upset.

The bathroom was moldy...! We had our 9 month old baby with us, so this is especially scary... the shower head had black mold on it, the corners of the bathroom had mold on them...not to mention the wallpaper was peeling back. Probably made worse by the fact that there was zero air flow/ventilation... not even a built-in fan in the bathroom? That is not going to help the issue, and probably creates it to begin with. My mom was staying down the hall (room 230, we were 208), and she also had mold in her bathroom. This is not okay. In general the room felt dirty, musty, "lived in," just not clean overall. The bed was uncomfortable...I suppose you get what you pay for at ~$120/night, but I would expect better from the Hampton Inn Hilton line. The staff members were friendly, but that was about the only pro with the stay. My husband also left behind his Bose noise-cancelling headphones, and they were never reported as lost and were not located in the lost and found. Super disappointing.

The hotel was hosting the AAU Olumpics and the noise and lack of any decorum was the worst I have ever seen. There was a need for security as the kids were really running the place and their coaches were not to be found. Had to walk over bodies in the hallway. Loud chatter and screaming in the hallways (and the door slamming) took place well after midnight. The staff did nothing but apologize. It is a shame as the hotel itself was excellent.

The entire experience was made even better by the outstanding customer service of Lia at the front desk during check-in. At the end of a long day that was capped off with 3 hours at the funeral home for a very beloved family member, Lia's great personality and sweet understanding of our situation was just what we needed. The attendant at breakfast, Sandy, also provided a great experience as we prepared to head out to the funeral the next morning. I commend the management of this property for the fantastic personnel that make this hotel stand out above the rest. If you are looking for a clean, comfortable hotel in a great location with a staff that will make your stay truly memorable, this is definitely the hotel for you in the western Detroit suburbs!!

I liked the hotel. It is very comfortable and I felt safe since I stayed by myself. Great customer service, specially Leonardo who helped me with an issue with Expedia.com. I would stay again and will recommend this hotel to all my friends and family.

We always stay at this hotel due to proximity to family living nearby and ease of travel. Has always been great; clean, decent amenities—some construction/maintenance going on, but with no problem/bother
