Came across Candlewood Suites when scheduling a last-minute family visit. The hotel I normally use was full, so I decided to try Candlewood. It was great! The room was clean and comfortable, equipped with a small but fully functional kitchen. It’s only five minutes from my family, and very competitively priced. Will definitely stay here again.

We had a two bedroom suite. It was like a small apartment. Great for a family 🙂

The room itself was pretty good. There were no linens in the room for the pull out when we got there. We arrived as a family of 4 so Im pretty sure they would have been aware we would be using the second bed. I walked down to the desk and they only had flat sheets and nothing else. No offer for pillows or even cases etc. My kids sleep on their squishmallows so it was not an kssue but I found that wierd. There was also almost no silverware to be found. We were only there for the weekend and didnt need much but found it odd they had like only one spoon.
The dealbreaker for me was the property is literally covered in dog poop. We brought our dog and couldnt even use what looked like the dog area for the sheer amount of dog poop and human trash. I dont find it a fault of the property but the caliber of people staying here. There are trash bins and courtesy bags, so people are literally lazy. It covered even the mulch area by the entrance though, which you think wouldnat least get cleaned by staff. I ended up walking down the street so I could walk my dog and almost ended up getting hit by drunk wedding guests. We still wiped her paws down everytime we came back in because there is poop everywhere.

There was no signs to find the property off of the main road. It’s hidden back behind a newly abandoned shopping plaza and is not visible from the road -so it was very difficult to find even with GPS. Parked to check in we were yelled at by a vagrant woman who claimed to live there. If you have a large SUV you must be extremely careful parking- the spaces are sized for compact cars. Checking into the room the hallways were filled with smoke you could barely see the other end of the hallway. Having asthma I found it difficult to breath and needed my inhaler regularly while staying there. The room itself was absolutely filthy- food smeared on the counters and coffee table- the toilet used and not flushed- makeup stains on the pillow cases- pubic hair all over the bathroom- window in kitchen was caked in cooking grease- there was no hand soaps at the sink no extra towel no extra bedding other than what was on the bed- TV remote missing. Basically -room was not stocked or cleaned properly. Needless to say, I made many trips to the front desk. The front desk attendant was often nowhere to be found inside- they were mostly always outside smoking. However, the attendant was very nice and helpful. They told me the excuse for such a filthy room is that they were understaffed. At night many of the guests were visibly doing drugs in their car. Smelled of dog throughout. I could go on a LOT more but this doesn’t a lot for enough space. Not worth the money-don’t bring kids. Go elsewhere

The staff is extremely kind; that's what helps raise the score & makes me hesitant to state the negative. The negative is that you hear EVERYTHING from the person above you. My upstairs "neighbor" came back after 10pm when i was getting ready to sleep & all the floor creaking, things being dropped in the shower, kitchen noises, etc disrupted my ability to sleep & woke my child and i up. We even had the fan app on the tv and still heard everything. This was supposed to be a relaxing few days away from hom, and with the lack of comfortable sleep it really didn't meet that goal of mine. That being said, the sheets were comfortable, the place seemed clean (minus the fact that i sat in the chair in my room and my butt was covered in pet hair. That's pretty gross), and it was quiet minus the thin floors and walls. Unfortunately, the lack of sleep makes me not want to return.

My husband and I took our kids 14 and 16 here so we could visit Boston, Salem and the Hampton. How close it is to those places is great but the actual location of this hotel ruined it and why we won’t return. You can’t turn left into the hotel so you have to go around to multiple different roads then drive through a shopping plaza with multiple bumps- it was just a pain! And someone who stayed before us must have stole a cord for the tv bc we could only use 2 of the 3 TVs I told the front desk.

The property was beautiful. It was nicely renovated with comfortable beds and pillows. However, I cannot recommend this property due to poor management by the day manager Dee. There are long-term residents living in this hotel who complain to management about minor things --such as the noise of pulling out a sofa bed -- and then bang on the walls constantly to show their displeasure. The walls and ceiling at this hotel have no noise-proofing, so very normal daily noises are heard throughout the hotel.
The day manager, Dee, was extremely rude and unprofessional. She informed me that if my kids and senior citizen mother did not keep the noise down that she would kick us out of the hotel in the middle of our vacation, although she did offer to refund a portion of our pre-paid money. We offered to switch rooms with the resident below us who had complained and we were told that that was not an option. We asked if Dee could move us to a sister IHG property so that we wouldn't have to be concerned about being put out on the street for the remainder of our vacation and she refused. Dee was weirdly supportive of the year-long resident without listening to our side. She clearly had a personal stake that affected her judgment as she said that she was in the unit below listening to the noises from our unit.
Our stay at this hotel was very distressing for my family and it ruined our vacation. Stay here only if you enjoy being harassed and threatened by management for no good reason.

Room we chose was perfect for our family of 5 plus one guest. Clean, quiet, great price and just what we needed for our weekend trip to Salem. It is a 20 minute drive to main town but price and comfort of room make up for the short drive. Not a dining option, or room service but quick snacks and great coffee to go :)

The two bedroom suite was clean and very comfortable. Our family of seven felt at home. We even entertained a few extra people for a few hours. There was plenty of room.

We just completed a stay in one of the two bedroom suites, which provided ample physical space for our family of four. However, the property is clearly well-worn from use. The room we were first assigned smelled.heavily of cigarettes, but the manager on duty was attentive and moved us next door. That room, which we ended up staying in, had smoke detectors dangling, closet doors off the hinges, aged bathroom fixtures, and a family of beetles. Management addressed our concerns with the room and it worked for us during the stay, but I was surprised for the experience overall based on the quality of reviews we had read before booking. I'm not sure whether we will stay here again when we return to the area.
Also, this hotel is in the weirdest location, with either a difficult to access driveway off of a highway OR a circuitous and surprising back entrance through shopping center parking lots. Our Uber driver was VERY confused
