TownePlace Suites by Marriott Westport

We always stay at this hotel when visiting family and have never had complaints until this visit. We were there for four nights and our room was never cleaned even after asking on the last two days to have it done.

The hotel was clean and accommodated us for all of our needs. The staff was friendly and helpful. The staff hosted an Easter egg hunt with prizes for all of the kids that were in the hotel on Easter Sunday.

This was our first stop on a multi state road trip. Wendy at the front desk was absolutely wonderful and welcoming. She was quick to give us the supplies we needed for the sofa bed and gave us all the necessary info regarding our stay. We always enjoy having a kitchen when traveling with a family of 4. A quick to trip to Walmart 2 miles up the road and we had dinner prepared and leftovers for another day. The sofa bed was the least comfortable for my kids of any of the hotels we stayed in but overall it was a good stop.

SURPRISE FEE: After traveling for over 9 hours, when we received the choice of early check-in, we were thrilled! But what a surprise! Even though the app did not say anything about an earl check-in charge, nor was it mentioned anywhere, we were surprised that when we checked in at 1pm (even though our room was ready) we were told that to get the key, we needed to pay a $50 fee for the early check-in. Our other choice was to wait until 4pm! We were exhausted so paid it just so we could get some rest. CLEANLINESS: When we opened the door, there was an overwhelming smell of cleaning chemicals to the point that we needed to leave the door opened to be able to breath. We thought that at least the room was clean but as we walked in, there was a large peanut M&M clearly visible next to the bed! If the room was cleaned, they would have noticed the M&M! Later, my husband thought he dropped something behind the couch so he moved it to look for it but we were surprised to find a child's underwear and a pair of socks behind the couch! It was not a large or heavy couch so why didn't the cleaning people see it if they cleaned the room? We were too tired to go complaint and possible have to move rooms. Once we rested we brought it up to the front desk/manager. Se seemed surprised and said she would bring it up in their next meeting but it was still there when we left!

This was pretty much a perfect stay. The room was spacious, very clean, and very comfortable. I loved the full kitchen. The staff was all very polite, pleasant and helpful. The parking was convenient, and my kids loved the indoor pool. The breakfast was also more substantial than you'd necessarily expect. This is the kind of stay for which I'd expect to pay twice what I paid. The maid service was limited, but it's not a priority for me to have the room cleaned during a brief stay and I think that's pretty normal these days. Requests for towels, to take out the trash, etc., were responded to promptly.
