We were traveling as a family from Texas to Florida and pulled in to Baton Rouge for the night. The first room we got was nice but it says it slept 5 (5th person on a couch, not a pull out) and it was NOT a couch. So I went back downstairs and they made it right by moving us to a king suite. That had a pull out couch that 2 of our kids slept on and the suite was big enough to pull in a cot. First surprise- the cot is a full size and thickness twin bed on a specialized dolly frame. Our oldest son slept so well on that! Then breakfast- it was amazing. Well appointed. Freshly made. Lots of options! And the hostess was so kind and helpful! Honestly when I was looking for a hotel on hotels.com I looked at the reviews. Most were great but what I noticed was that the staff responded to all of them! They care what you think of their facility! The only complaint I read was parking is $22 on the property but I was fine with that. They do have a garage around the corner that's about $10 cheaper but we had a car topper on so we couldn't do a garage. But our stuff was secure and there on property. Overall- I would definitely stay here again. Room was beautiful and clean, as mentioned staff was very helpful and receptive and breakfast was great. I would go back to Baton Rouge again just to stay here!

Where to start... 1. Cleanliness...Room was dirty. Dirt and smudges on all the walls that could easily be wiped off. Curtains had layers of diet and filth at the bottoms of them. Hair from previous guests in tub, sink and toilet. Drawers had dust and worse, red sticky stuff that kept my family living out of suitcases. 2. PTAC (a/c)...Control was on the wall. Panel was dead. No batteries in the unit. Fixed, but panel still didnt work. Able to adjust temp on unit, but that failed during the night. Room was hot and stuffy. No fix. 3. Linens...Didnt have enough. Thankfully front desk fixed issue and brought more. 4. Disrepair...Closet was unusable. They put a makeshift door up, but because it was made for a large doorway, you could only open it about 12 inches on either side, rendering the closet unsuable. Maintenance room shared a wall with our room. There was an alarm that was never silenced allday and all night for.thr three days we.were there. Stairwell had lighting that was out going to the first floor.

We had a great overnight stay. The kitchen server by the name of Magic was awesome. I was a little dissapointed when another kitchen staff told us we could not sit and eat in the dining area with our dog and wanted us to eat on the outside patio where it was already hot and humid that morning. Mind you, this is a dog friendly hotel and another family was already in the dining area with their two small dogs. Aside from that incident, the staff were very pleasant.

This was a last minute booking on our way home from Florida. Everything was exceptional! The woman who checked us in was so sweet and made sure everything with our booking was smooth. The room was spacious for our family of 5 and very clean! The breakfast the next morning was so good and the two ladies in charge were so wonderful and helpful with my children! My husband and I are already discussing booking here when we come back for LSU games!

Hampton is our go-to when visiting our kids at LSU. The staff is always friendly, and the location can't be beat for easy access to campus. Nearby restaurants, grocery and bars are also a big plus.
