Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites TOPEKA NORTH, an IHG Hotel

After traveling 9 hours i called to check the pool hours which is closed for renovations, asked if i could cancel because i researched and booked this hotel strictly because of the hot tub being connected to the pool so i could relax near my kids playing .. considering we have another 10 hours to drive tomorrow this is important.... the hotel said i could cancel my reservation and transferred me to billing who said i have to tell expedia, expedia customer service took 3 calls to get to a person who said they had to call the hotel and ask and then told me the hotel said no they would not accept a cancelation...when i got here i asked And they said sorry that makes no sense... i thought well maybe i can take a hot bath only to find black mildew all over the tub ad some odd red scratchs on the bottom of the tub? Im pretty upset....

The hotel appeared older which was no big deal, but the walls in our room were torn up, water spots on the ceilings, and the room was only semi clean. There were squishy toys that were stuck on the ceiling and the tv did not work. Some of the room amenities on the property details were not in our room and when staff was asked they couldn’t provide them. Hotel staff live on site which again no issue but there was not staff available in the morning. Breakfast was subpar and they ran out of several items by 6:30 am and breakfast began at 6 am. The pool was a bit murky and the pool towels were the size of hand towels, not even big enough to wrap around a child. My family and I will not be staying here again. Staff were friendly and mostly helpful.
