Holiday Inn Express & Suites Mount Vernon, an IHG Hotel

We had a room for 5 people. The room was ready when we got there but not for 3 adults and 2 kids. So we had to ask for more towels and wash clothes. Cause there were only 2 sets in the room. Which they got. And then there was no bedding for the hideaway. So we ask about it at 5:00 pm and it took them until 9:00 pm to get us a comforter and I had to call and remind them.

The staff working serving breakfast was excellent! Absolutely the best breakfast experience my family has ever had at any hotel (and we travel a lot!) Only downside was the noise coming from the elevator or front door since we were a few rooms from the main entrance.

We were traveling from Texas to Indiana to visit family and stayed overnight on our way. Upon arrival at the hotel, we were checked in right away. The room was fresh and clean. The employee in charge of breakfast provided excellent service.

Desk clerks aloof - took forever and I was not given a room number. Had to go back to get it. Not friendly- slow. My room was nice - however the beds looked like they had been made by a toddler.

Be sure to call ahead and check your reservations! We got there and they didn’t have our original room available and my kids and I ended up having to sleep on a sleeper side because we only had a king bed instead of 2 queens. Room clean except underneath the sofa sleeper where it pulls out of the couch. Bathrooms nice and clean.

We arrived late at night with no available luggage carts. The front staff didnt seem to care and told us she can't help that other guests keep the carts in their rooms. The room was disgusting. The mirror in the bathroom was rusted and the room had a foul smell. The fridge was squeaking all night so we had to unplug it. There were dogs barking at night. The best part of the stay was how kind and helpful the staff serving breakfast was. I would expect the food would have been better but they were very friendly and went above and beyond. The hotel over all wasnt impressive. The carpets need replaced and the whole room overall felt dirty and the bathroom was just horrible. The sink didn't drain. The paint was peeled off in spots on the walls. The room didnt have linen for the fold out sofa bed so we had to go down and request it. We reserved the room for a full family and the room was only stocked with 2 towels so we also had to make another trip down for that as well. We were exhausted by the time we arrived and were in town for a funeral and that is the only reason I didnt immediately complain and book at a new hotel. I will never stay at this one again.
