Kauai Inn

Overall, I enjoyed my stay at The Kauai Inn. I arrived late from the airport, but the friendly staff greeted me with a lei and a smile. The surroundings were beautiful and the room was comfortable. The hotel isn't new, a little worn here and there, but I was glad I stayed there. The 24/7 tea and coffee bar was nice, as well as fresh fruit for breakfast. There were several families with young kids, so a lot of noise and chatter in the mornings, but when you're already awake from roosters, it's not so bad. The roosters do crow often and early in the morning, but that's common throughout the island, nothing specific to The Kauai Inn.

Clean, simple place with very nice staff. We stayed here twice and really enjoy the common areas with multiple tables in the central lawn around the (fenced) pool area. Breakfast is simple, and my kids really enjoyed it (packaged crepes and pastries, coffee, local fresh fruits, boxed juices). One of the rooms we stayed had more of a motel feel but the other on the ground floor facing the back lawn was really nice. Rooms are of good size, bathrooms are quite compact but have the softest towels! For us it was a great option close to the airport for an arrival/departure day.

Quaint and away from the hustle of larger hotels. Very clean and wonderful family vibes. Wish we could stay longer.

Great first impression on our visit to the Island. Great small business owner, everything from the greeting, to the coffee and breakfast, to the nice and clean rooms with comfortable beds. Our children enjoyed exploring the property as well. Thank you.

This hotel is in a strange location away from everything. Residential area & the shipyards. Noisy when cargo ships unload and the housing right by the area not good. My daughter looked up sexual predator in the area and there were 35 near us! For the high price we paid I would not recommend. Local families stay here.

Good size room for a family. Nice to have breakfast included and coffee and tea available all the time with an amazing selection of flavored syrups. Very friendly staff and great they have stuff available to use for the beach. Close to shopping and restaurants.

Easy booking affordable and nice place to stay for family

This hotel was great!! A little off the path but the people (I will not call them staff because they made us feel like family) were awesome!! The room was small but nice, coffee bar incredible, and breakfast social hour was outstanding. Thank you and we'll be back!

The Kauai Inn is a small, older Inn run by the sweetest people. You feel like family from the moment you arrive. Pros: - free breakfast including fresh fruit, coffee, malasadas (a local, donut-like treat), bagels, oatmeal bar, and juices -pool -free activities Friday nights on property (including free drinks and popcorn) - beach towels, beach chairs; umbrellas, boogey boards, coolers, snorkel gear, etc. all readily available for use each day - chickens to wake you up each day - beautifully kept grounds with flowering plants/trees everywhere - clean room with daily housekeeping - air conditioning in every room - Mini fridge and microwave in the rooms - friendly, helpful staff - beautiful views of the mountains and centrally located to everything on the island Cons: - older facility with rooms in need of remodeling - while our room itself was very clean initially, the curtain covering the large glass door leading to the lanai was disgusting. It had stains all over it and was torn in multiple places. The carpets also really need replaced. Overall, we would absolutely stay here again.

Not recommended: We had booked 7 nights at the Kauai Inn but we checked out after only one. The air condition unit was very noisy that sleeping was difficult; it was running almost all night because one window had no glass, only shutters. The carpet in the room was old and deep-dirty. We often stay in family owned smaller hotels and don't mind older furniture as long as the room is clean. The pictures on the website and the high number of good ratings are not reflecting the reality. The most positive we can say is that the manager and staff was friendly but nobody cared to ask why we were checking out after one night and forwent our non refundable payment.
