Me and my girlfriend stayed at The Winston for 3 days and was very surprised with how easy the check in was. An employee called us a few days before our stay to confirm the reservation and gave us instructions for check in and where to park. The parking area would've been hard to find if it wasn't for the call. This hotel is convenient as it is in the middle of downtown and was walking distance to museums, stores and wine places. The only downside of this place during our stay was the noise. We booked a queen suite on the 1st floor which was clean and looked nice with all the decor. Everything the you would normally see in a hotel was supplied. However, the people that was booked across the hallway from us was very loud especially during quiet hours which as 10PM to 8AM. Another issue was that the people booked above us either had kids or was playing tag throughout the whole day as we were hearing their loud foot steps. This ruined some of our nights when we were trying to get good sleep on this relaxing vacation. Overall, i would recommend this place for pure convenience of the spot. Otherwise, stay somewhere else if you want some real peace and quiet.

My family and I travel to Solvang twice a year and always stay at The Winston. We have a small pup and a 6 year old. The hotel is perfect for our little clan. It is super convenient to all of the shops and dining options. We park our car at the hotel, check into our room using the code provided by the hotel via email, and we are off for the day! The room is super roomy & clean. The staff, although are not physically at the hotel are very attentive via text and phone. You really wouldn’t know they aren’t actually ON the property. All in all, we LOVE this hotel and the staff. You can’t beat the location! Looking forward to our next visit!

We booked a 2 king “suite.” I’m not sure what makes it qualify as a suite. It had a small couch in a nook, so maybe that is it. We liked that the room had 2 kings instead of the usual 2 doubles. The room was large with lots of space. The shower was nice and large as well. The location was great. The hotel just felt a little run down. The room was attractive enough, but the exterior was meh and gave a motel-ish feel—and it didn’t feel very secure since anyone could walk in off the street. The floor in the room had some spots that felt like the floor under the carpet was weak—it sunk down a little bit when you walked on it. Our view out of two medium-sized windows was of the driveway to the parking lot. One of the reasons we go on vacation is to get rest and sleep late. The room’s location right above Fitzgerald’s Tavern was not conducive to rest/sleep. I always say that service is what gives a 5-star hotel that last star. Since you don’t actually interact with anyone, they were at a disadvantage from the get-go. They said they were available if anything was needed, but it almost felt like we’d be intrusive to text them. Again, the hotel location was great. I’ll just say that my kids saw The Landsby as we drove past it and said we should have stayed there. I chose The Winston because our son’s name is Winston. I learned that isn’t enough of a reason to choose a hotel.
