Was traveling the coast and stopped here very quaint, clean place. I’m a very picky person, but I would recommend it to my friends and family.

This is a lovely hotel, but it is an older building! We found all of the older fixtures and such very charming and we loved the history of the hotel and the area. The staff was very welcoming and they had snacks and coffee and water available. Plenty of great places in walking distance and close to the shore, just wanted people to be aware that it is not a modern building, so that they know what to expect! We stayed there for our baby-moon and had a wonderful time, and would stay again!

This inn was a wonderful holiday experience. My partner and I booked a queen bed that ended up being under construction. Instead of canceling our booking, they upgraded us to a cottage, which I will book if I ever go back to Monterey. It includes a futon where two more people could sleep. The TVs had no Netflix but there were nice homey movies on cable (Addams family and princess bride). The decorations and historical building is something you can’t miss out on and the friendliness of staff ties it all together. The inn is located very near brunch, a museum, shops, and a nice book store. Very walkable to the beach. Only thing - wish the breakfast was more than yogurt and scones, had to go get eggs somewhere to feel full. Even that was scrumptious though:)

Claimed the room we booked didn’t allow children (even though our confirmation shows a child age 12) She switches us to a cottage room, but doesn’t tell us it’s cheaper and I looked it up myself. Cottage room wasn’t even an option when we were searching. The room had gross dirty, peeling wallpaper and a double bed. I would’ve never booked a room with a double bed. Tossed and turned all night. Smelled as old as it is. My husband asked for a refund of the difference on the room rate and they claimed our room was actually more expensive even though he showed her a screenshot of the rates. I don’t know why this place gets such good ratings. It’s a good location, I guess and they did have cookies etc, which was nice.
