Best Western Arcata Inn

We found our place to stay when visiting our kids at Cal Poly Humboldt. Our 3rd time here: The staff is always friendly. The room is clean (carpets pass our white sock test), the bed and bedding are very comfortable and it is very close to the school. Also, the free breakfast is hearty and very good.

Super friendly staff. I think they make the experience of staying at this hotel the best because they are helpful and friendly. The rooms are spacious and clean. Ample parking available and in front of your room. We stayed here for two nights while visitng Redwood Forest. Very nice family environment. They also serve breakfast. We were so impressed with the breakfast. It was a full spread. We would definitely stay again.

Very good if traveling with dogs. Large dog walking lawn with bags provided. The room was spacious and felt clean. Nothing special, just a basic hotel room but more than adequate. The free breakfast was great, several hot and cold options and a comfortable dining area. The pool was small but pleasant, the kids enjoyed it. Staff was friendly.

They gave my room to a family, who entered first, but then gave them another room, & gave me a new key. And waived my pet fee. Thank you!

The room had old and dark carpet, smelled stale. Small tight bathroom, sagging beds. The garbage bins on the outside of the rooms were always overflowing. The breakfast area didn't have enough tables and chairs and this was a weekend when all the rooms were full - so people either had to wait or take it back to their room and eat. I booked it primarily for the pool since our kids wanted it. It was dirty - you could see the dirt on the tiles, not even on the grout, but the actual tiles. Dirty hot tub as well. Its really not an indoor pool - there is a divider in the middle of the pool - part of it is in and part outdoor. When the kids were playing in the pool, I was afraid they would hit their head on the divider.

I chose BW because we were taking a 3 year old along on the 2 hour commute into to transport his mother (who was 9 months pregnant) to her last pre-birth exam. The 3 year old was promised a swimming pool and a nice breakfast. We checked in to find out the pool and spa were out of commission. The clerk gave us a key to a health club 4 miles away which was a no nonsensense workout place,, not very suitable for family-3 year old swim. They did not provide towels. I had to buy them. The next morning we went to find breakfast. It was cold and misting, around 50 degrees. The breakfast nook was also under construction and a "buffet" of cold, cheap pastries, lukewarm coffee and oatmeal, slices of bread, juice, milk and water in small containers, apples and oranges. There was no silverware. I requested some from the clerk. A disappointment to all. This not why we paid that little extra to go to a BW. We went out to breakfast, another unanticipated expense like the towels. You have to do better by your customers. Usually BW is a nice place to stay. It certainly was NOT a good experience this time.
