Holiday Inn Express Dothan North, an IHG Hotel

They up charged the rooms due to everyone evacuating. After paying almost $250 for a room I was checked in and the first room had not been cleaned from the night before and the room they gave me after that one was so dirty. There was something nasty leaking from the refrigerator and the shower had mold in it where it has pretty much never been cleaned. The house keeping was knocking and coming in our room at 9:30am even though the do not disturb sign was on. It's bad enough we are worried about having a home to go back to that we can't even begin to relax in the overpriced room. I made my toddler stay on the bed because I was worried he would get into something.

We called twice to ensure we had rooms available for a late checkin and were assured we did every time. Until we arrived at 11pm to find that we didn’t have a room available and had to scramble to find another hotel at midnight with three small children. Unacceptable.

We stayed in a suite as a family of 6. We had to ask for sheets for the couch bed, but front desk got them quickly. Service at the front desk was courteous and polite, completely satisfied with her service. Room was clean and comfortable. Bathroom shower door didn’t seal right so water leaked out when we showered and had to use extra towels to dry that up. Only complaints were the pool…it was closed when we first checked in, but opened within a few hours. We should’ve taken that as a sign, but our children were eager to swim. 3/4 ended up getting sick after being in the pool about an hour (coughing, feeling light headed)…too much chlorine in the pool. The other issue was the breakfast buffet. We had been told the hotel was full due to several events in town. When we went to breakfast at 7:30, several of the normal hot items were out. The eggs and the milk both tasted funny so we ended up just eating dry cereal and muffins. The location feels pretty random, being in the middle of an industrial area, but the hotel was decent.

Check in at desk was great. Then two bus loads of teenagers with a ball team came in later. Needless to say I got no sleep because of loud kids running up and down halls slamming doors and screaming. I left early and couldn't get coffee or even into reception area. The elevator also wasn't working great.

Stay was great. Pull-out sofa was a typical pull-out (bar in the back) but the kids didn't mind. Any extra blankets/towels that were needed were available within minutes. Breakfast was great. The AC in the room was COLD! The laundry taking a debit card really makes life easier!
