The Stanneylands

The Beech family sold this hotel years ago. Unfortunately, in room 406 the present owners have retained seemingly the beds, mattresses and TV that the Beech 's introduced at least thirty years ago. The innards of the mattresses were obvious by finger touch, never mind laying on them, an act which guaranteed a miserable nights attempt at sleep. An inexcusable disgrace in a four star hotel. Have you ever stayed in a four star Cheshire hotel when the only watchable TV station was BBC 1 London? Well we just did. Have you ever stayed in such a hotel when the shower was little more than a dribble? And where the bathroom and shower provided not one shelf or hook? Well we just did. Given our commitments locally, we were unfortunately unable to check out after our first night.. My annoyance was enhanced by the comment of a staff member who upon hearing me complain to Reception, said 'we have been waiting for new mattresses for some time now'. She didn't say how many years, though.
