The York Hotel

when we arrived we were very warmly greeted by a lovely lady who was very helpful and soon got us checked in. The rooms were very spacious all with sea view - we had rooms 103, 202 & 203 - they were very clean and looked newly painted with very comfy beds and all amenties required for our stay. Great location literally opposite the pier. We had breakfast which had plenty of choice and was hot - which makes a big difference with buffet breakfast - we didn't eat in the evening but we saw the food coming out and it looked delicious - we actually wish we had eaten there. the staff were all super friendly and we would definately return to this hotel would recommend to families :)

Upon arrival you have to follow a few corridors to small centrally locate reception room to get checked in. The lift functions has a few scary sounds to it. Could do with moderation, fresh carpet, maybe some modern lining and a mirror. Did save our legs though as there is a lot of stairs! The room was ok and had the basics, for example tea, coffee and a hair drier. However, the TV was smaller than my laptop screen and this was in a “family room”, with some basic channels unavailable. Windows were very dirty. The bathroom was big with a deep bath (which my partner loved) and shower overhead. However, there were random marks on the wall, decor felt unkempt and the shower pressure was awful. Sleep wise the hotel was quiet and despite its central location it was also quiet outside. Bed was comfy and sheets were clean. There was also a small fan in the wardrobe that helped to cool things a little. However, the carpet looked old and in need of replacement. Breakfast room is modern and clean, with great views of the pier and beach. A good selection of cereal and a hot buffet was accompanied by fresh juices and hot drinks. Staff were friendly and smiling as they helped to seat the guests. At the front of the hotel there is a large outside area for food and drinks, although we didn’t use this, it was very busy which suggest people do enjoy the meals and the drinks on offer. Overall good service and style downstairs is not reflected in the quality of the rooms upstairs.

A trip with the family, the hotel was in a fab location and the staff were amazing, they were so accommodating. Would definitely recommend this hotel

Lovely little stay at the York Hotel in the family room. Rooms are a bit dated and nothing special but the beds we’re comfortable and clean. Nice hot shower so ideal for a stop over to watch the Weston Carnival with the family. Breakfast was nice, simple buffet style but nicely cooked. Staff were friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay there again for a short stay.

Stayed here for one night -somebody tried to get in through our window 3:30 in the morning I heard the chain on the blind and so did my daughter who shouted out omg omg she saw a shadow and a hand by the window blind. and I think she prevented them getting in from calling out we had a 6 month old baby with us ,tried to ring hotel no answer told the owner in the morning he made an excuse that cctv does not cover that bit and would take a while to find the footage! I saw the camera and it would have shown something . The owner told me there was a break in at a neighbouring hotel ! How many times has he told that one which just proves what we thought. The owner did not apologise and we did not go back to sleep even contemplating going home at 3:30 in the morning but we felt unsafe. I get the impression the owner did know about break ins, and this was not the first time and just wanted our money for the stay not offering any compensation. Completely spoilt our night way . Scared us all! Including my 75 yr old mum. We could have been attacked or anything else! Won’t be staying again do not recommend. It was a hot night so we had to keep window open and we stayed in the family room one double two singles on the ground floor. Put us off staying in Weston ever again. Do not stay here. Be interesting if the owner replies ! He didnt care - shame on you. Didn’t offer to report it! Unsafe hotel . Very scary experience for us all. Please DO NOT stay here.

Had a family toom which was very large. Best night sleep the beds were excellent. Didnt want to leave. Value for money.

We have stayed at the York hotel twice before this stay as a couple, which was fine. This time we took our children and stayed in the family room which was basement level, our view was the outside eating area so we couldn’t open the blinds at all as they would be able to see straight in. The windows were single glazed and did not close properly so we heard every single noise, the speaker for outside was next to our window, we had to ask the staff to turn the music down at 10.30pm, then at 2.40am we were woken by people talking outside our room and moving chairs around…. Then woke again at 4am by talking again!! My partner complained to the manager in the morning and he was not interested saying “well what do you want me to do?!” We were very disappointed that they had no sympathy that our whole family had no sleep due to the lack of care from the staff/owner moving furniture around at 2.40am!!! Seriously I will never go there again after the manager just shrugged out complaint off!

Excellent location, good breakfast, staff friendly and helpful. Hotel needs some general maintenance and updating. We were a family of 4 and the family room was a good size. Beds were comfortable and clean.

Room was right at front of hotel, so all noise from bar/restaurant, as well as the sea and people walking past. Very thin walls, as heard youngsters coming in at 1am & 3am from drinking. Breakfast was cold too. Great location, but not for me. Would not stay there again. Staff were pleasant though and had lunch in the restaurant which was nice and good value. Well presented too.
