The hotel is an older structure and has been modernised throughout to a very high standard with evidence of new work present around the lifts and some common areas; the rooms are probably getting ready for a refresh as whilst it was really clean there are chips out of the bath and the shower/taps could do with being renewed. The staff welcoming us at check-in were friendly and top class; that said the bar staff and breakfast staff were all really, really excellent in every way and they make the hotel absolutely perfect. The beds were comfy, the family room nice and quiet too, the breakfast was great and everything perfect which is why I love a Crowne Plaza

On arrival all was well and pleased with accommodation, by 9pm our room 114 (family room) stunk of cigarette smoke like we were sitting in an ashtray. There was a power cut in the hotel which rendered us in darkness with no explanation. Room 114 had the ventilation system underneath which meant no sleep from the time we went to bed to the time we vacated. By 7am our room was disgusting with the stench of cigarette smoke. We complained to reception and someone attended the room and apologised for the disgusting stench but not further action was taken. We checked out and reception waived our £15 parking charge for what was a £200 room. We were kindly provided with a room stinking of cigarettes which obviously was acceptable for us and our child, along with no sleep for 8 hours due to the ventilation system which is not highlighted in any literature and by the staff of the hotel. Great service indeed. Our review would be try a different hotel in Plymouth. As someone who works in a service environment and never complains, this has been our worst experience of inadequate and poor levels of service ever experienced.

Hotel has an excellent location, it is right in front of the lighthouse. From the penthouse (at breakfast) you can see the 360 view of the city (kids loved next to the window and pointing out what they saw). Good dining options around and swimming pool was excellent I could not get kids out of it. We used the location to travel around different location sin Devon and Cornwall it worked good. The Barcode is nearby with good entertainment and food options too.

Easy to find, sufficient parking and great area for facilities. Check in simple and staff friendly. Only one loft working which was a bit inconvenient and not possible to use stairs with two small children and pushchair: bags etc. We didn’t eat at the hotel but restaurant bar looked nice. Pool was open till 8 and had a good view across Hoe. Could have done with a clean as some areas of the pool tiles were green and there were Ants residing in the corner by chairs. I would stay again as so convenient and room was huge with comfy large beds.

Lovely hotel in a great location for exploring all Plymouth has to offer. Close to the Theatre, The Hoe and Barbican and the city itself. Outstanding panormaic view from the top floor restaurant. Good service. Only downside was the bathroom was very small for a family of four, it was very difficult to move around as so compact!

The hotel room was really good, comfortable king bed, nice size bathroom but the fan didn’t work, excellent shower over the bath, there was a great view of the hoe and the sea from the window. The down side of the hotel was the lifts weren’t working very well and one day not at all, we were on the seventh floor and breakfast was on the eleventh floor, used the swimming pool one day it is 600mm deep at one end 1200mm at the other, great if you are a kid but no good for swimming lengths. The walls of the pool were very grubby which put me off using it again.

Great choice for families , fantastic position , friendly helpful staff , great service , have stayed before , room wasn’t as great as before , had to ask for fresh towels as found flying bugs over them & in the storage for towels ( found a member of staff in the lift housekeeping manger possibly) & explained & asked for fresh towels , received quickly , but possible problem in that room with the bugs as returned following day might have something to do with the amount of moisture in there , as no extraction fan ? & paint peeling off the main door , should of reported I suppose or maybe a follow up from staff member ? But there’s worst things going on then bugs currently in this world .

The car parking spaces are incredibly tight and with a family car impossible to take out luggage and children. Only 2 towels provided for 4 of us (we only stayed one night so we made do). Room was spacious and clean. Breakfast excellent.
