Club Quarters Hotel London City

I’m really surprised to see the positive reviews against this hotel as it wasn’t a particularly enjoyable stay. The room was quite dirty and very dated, not at all like the photos shown, you would have thought it was a different hotel. They are clearly going through a renovation and have photographed the renovated rooms only - except when you book it appears to be pot luck what you get. The bed was also two twin beds and mattresses pushed together. Staff were not particularly helpful at all, I had no idea whatsoever where breakfast would be and received no information around this upon checking in, despite paying for it in my stay. Breakfast seemed to be crammed into a corner in a dark corner restaurant and did not feel welcomed at all, when I was seated by the staff and then asked to move half way through my food so another family could use my table.

Liked the coffee machine and snacks served in the lobby each morning. Also the free water bottles in each floor. The extra bed in rhe family room is an open sofa, not so comfy. Ok for children, less comfy for adults. Other than that it was a pleasant stay, thanks.

Overall, a very good and above all practical city hotel, although not a 4* standard in all respects. The location is very good, just off Leadenhall Market and close to London Bridge. Several tube stations nearby. Supermarket, cafes etc close by. A family of 4 we had a suite which was quite large for London (>30m²) but still within budget. The facilities were very decent (fridge, 2 TVs, kitchenette, desk), but the furnishings look a bit old-fashioned and used, especially the bathroom. The room is rather noisy, but the guests were very quiet, so it was not a problem. We liked the cleanliness of the room very much, less good was that the room was only done after 3 days without any information if and when it would be cleaned. The reception works in teams of 2 who are always friendly and approachable and who also make sure that a free tea/coffee service is always offered in the lobby. There is also free water on the floors, including bottles for refilling. Conclusion: we were satisfied and would be happy to come back.

Property was not the quality/condition of a $478USa night hotel. The listing sells you on being close to Diagon Alley- which was a disappointing venture itself. Area is not family friendly- of the restaurants open most were too elegant for casual wear, loaded with business men and all about drinks….. wouldn’t recommend for families.
