Hydro Hotel

Grand old hotel - with great service, good room and decent breakfast. Only let itself down due to very noisy wedding party on Sunday night, with screaming kids outside on the croquet lawn. Oh and outdoor heated swimming pool although only small is a nice bonus.

We went as a small family group in two separate rooms to celebrate a birthday. Positives: The food was excellent; we had a light lunch, the sit down dinner at the crystal restaurant and breakfast. The garden facilities were lovely. The cleanliness was mostly very good. Things to know: The service was mostly good but we did have some misunderstandings regarding table bookings and settling our bill. We did find some false eyelashes left on the floor of one bedroom. What we hadn’t anticipated was the heat and the noise disturbance from other guests due to having to have our windows open; there is no air conditioning and in summer months it was stifling hot. We were woken up early (07:00) overhearing other guests in close proximity having very loud conversations because they had all their windows open too. This was very disappointing. The view from our windows was also very disappointing as we were overlooking another wall of the hotel. approximately 1.5m opposite another hotel bedroom so we could see/hear other residents very clearly.

Lovely hotel out of main town. Lovely grounds. Small pool area but was used by local children who were very noisy not as peaceful as my last visit. Parking was difficult as it was the air show, but apart from that very pleasant stay.
